Question on music metadata/backups

Hello all.  I have emby server running on an Intel nuc and have a folder on there with music organized by genre, album, etc.  I recently had to re-install windows, so I moved the music folder from a backup back to its original location, and restored the emby database.

Unfortunately, it seems that emby has detected this as 'new' music so it went through and messed up all my metadata and images.

I'm wondering what the best practice is to restore files like this so emby does not treat them as 'new'.

Appreciate any help!

Edit: Also don't know if this is related - but even though I have locked some items when I refresh metadata it insists on making changes to those tracks.

Sorry, let me back up a bit - I copied the 'programdata' folder before I formatted.  When I installed everything again, I moved the programdata folder back.  I then moved the media in the 'music' folder back where it should be.  Then started emby server, and when I went in to check on the libraries the music one was all messed up - images gone or replaced with artist images - some tracks that I had edited metadata for and locked were back with the incorrect info again.

I very possibly may have messed this process up.  But seeing as I moved that music content back before starting emby I'm not sure why this happened.

OK do you have that backup still? You could try deleting the program data and replacing it with the original version from the other machine.

Great idea!  This worked.  Thank you.  I'm not sure what caused this issue but it seems to be resolved.  I appreciate your help.
