mhutchison 5 Posted January 2 Posted January 2 When saving the Video Preview Thumbnails to the media folder, does it put them in their own folder within the media folder or along with the media files and other images? I'm just thinking about those 500+ images per movie All my video files are in their own folders. Also, doing it that way, if I had to restore my server, will it use those thumbnails.
Luke 42077 Posted January 2 Posted January 2 Hi, you are in control of this. You can enable them to be saved in media folders in the settings for the library. If not they will be in the server's internal metadata folder.
mhutchison 5 Posted January 2 Author Posted January 2 (edited) Perfect. I also went and looked and was wondering why I haven't seen any images yet, but realized that the video Preview thumbnails are all saved in a single .bif file. Going about a percent an hour for my new server and NAS with a fresh scan and video previews which I didn't do before. Windows has gone bye bye. NFS with Synology and Debian was a PIA but eventually got it all figured out. One stupid setting on the Synology. Edit: But, if I had to restore ever, will Emby see those .bif files and not have generate again? Edited January 2 by mhutchison

Is there a way to force the .bif file in the media folder after I forgot to do the setting before I ran the task? Checked a few shows and I can scrub and see the thumbs just fine so they are rhere. I know I could "replace thumbnails" with a new scan but was hoping not to. I already refreshed metadata and scanned files. It also seems like its only for TV shows. Movies did it just fine. Thanks.
mhutchison 5 Posted January 4 Author Posted January 4 I ended up just forcing a rescan last night. All thumbs and NFOs there. But, is there a way to pull/force the NFOs and images in to the media folders if they are only in the default directories and you forgot to tick the setting before scanning for future reference and to help other people? Thanks!

Thanks! Hi, there isn’t. It will happen over time as items get saved again. Refreshing metadata is the only way to force that to happen in bulk right now.
