Changing Studio metadata cumbersome - Is there a better way?

Hi,

Hope this is the correct forum for this query.

Enviroment:

Ubuntu Linux 24.04.3

Emby Server Version 4.9.1.90

What I did:

After adding my TV show library I noticed that some shows were attached to the Studio "ABC" and others "ABC (US)"  I used "bash" and "sed" and replaced "<studio>ABC (US)</studio>" with "<studio>ABC</studio>" in all of the nfo files so they would all be under a single Studio.

Problem:

"ABC (US)" still shows in the "Networks" Page and when you hit the "play" button it finds some TV shows even though I did a thorough job in checking and (double checking even) the nfo files. When I look at the metadata in emby, the Studio is still set for "ABC (US)" even thought the actual nfo file is set for "ABC"

What I tried:

I can individual go into the metadata in emby and remove change the studio, but I have to do this one episode at a time and there are hundreds of episodes. This works, but obviously is not scale-able.

Any suggestions on a better way to do this?

Thanks,

Robert

Hi, did you run a library scan after editing the nfo?

Hi Luke,

No, I did not out of fear that it would re-scrape with "ABC (US) for the studio again. I recently had to rebuild my entire library because I messed something up with my old database and emby was using 100% of both my physical and virtual memory (all my fault - nothing to do with emby) and am being VERY cautious with the rebuild. Will a library scan re-scrape?

Will a library scan re-scrape?

When it detects the nfo has changed, then yes, but it will not overwrite the data in your nfo.

Please note I'm talking about the normal library scan, not refresh metadata, which could overwrite your data.

AH!!! Eureka!! That explains EVERYTHING! Thank you so much for your time - know your busy and I appreciate the fast response and I love Emby!
