Alcyone7 6 Posted December 29, 2025 Posted December 29, 2025 The burgeoning list of Conductor, Novel, Character Developer and all the other roles, which just bloat the database with information I am not and never will be interested in. All I want to see are the actors and the director(s). The 20 producers and 9 screenwriters are, for me, bloat and irrelevant. And when I start to see entries like "original producer" - so not the producer for the remake/film, but a credit to a producer (really don't care) of the original film - its time to trim the fat. So is there an easy way to control what is displayed (filtered) or downloaded, or worst case scenario, a way to edit the database and remove all these superfluous entries?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted December 29, 2025 Posted December 29, 2025 Do you have a specific example as Emby does not get all of these so-called Crew from providers and is limited to director/actor for the most part besides episodes with director/writer. May need to know your metadata downloader order also if specific to a non-default plugin. As all these people are a per item linking in metadata/database there is no bulk way to eliminate them besides per item.
Alcyone7 6 Posted December 29, 2025 Author Posted December 29, 2025 More or less every entry (TV Shows excluded) have a whole litany of producers, writers, composers, character - one even had storyboard artist listed). Since this is grabbed, and from what I can infer from your reply, there is no way to filter/disable/delete en-masse, I will have to live with the excess drivel with what is there already, and change the metadata scraper to another provider who hopefully doesn't deliver this level of drivel.

Would need a real example as I have no idea where any of the info would actually come from as I do not see any of this per Emby built plugins. Now if this is from a third party plugin then it would be up-to that plugin developer to possible fix the issue. But no there is no way to filter/disable/delete said info in-mass. What Library type? What enabled providers?
Alcyone7 6 Posted December 29, 2025 Author Posted December 29, 2025 The fetch order is: TheMovieDB The Open Movie Database TheTVDB
Happy2Play 9780 Posted December 29, 2025 Posted December 29, 2025 Just now, Alcyone7 said: The fetch order is: TheMovieDB The Open Movie Database TheTVDB And a specific example with your issue as none of those providers will return what you are describing. In the end people only come from the first provider unless none exist at the time of import then will move to the next provider. Info will never come from all providers when it comes to People.

I appreciate that the data is being fetched from the metadata plugin, which may or may not be written by the Emby team - I was merely looking for a quick way to filter the cast/crew being displayed (since it had already been fetched). As you have commented - no filter - no easy way to remove (except editing each item). So I will simply change the fetch order and hope the others don't supply this much drivel.

Then all these extra "people" roles have come from TheMovieDB. I will simply change it (as previously indicated).
Happy2Play 9780 Posted December 29, 2025 Posted December 29, 2025 Without a real example it is impossible to say as I can not reproduce this issue at all and have never seen this issue per TMDB. OMDB will be the most limited as they will not list all main actors per content.
Alcyone7 6 Posted December 29, 2025 Author Posted December 29, 2025 Here is an example of the twaddle being fetched. This is for Spartacus. Role --> Scenario Writer. WTH
Alcyone7 6 Posted December 29, 2025 Author Posted December 29, 2025 There are no NFO files (disabled anyway) - the only data sources are those shown.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted December 29, 2025 Posted December 29, 2025 (edited) Well I see one issue as this MiniSeries is not a Movie and I fetched it and go none of what you see in a TV library. Spartacus (TV Series 2004-2004) — The Movie Database (TMDB) Will retest in Movie library but expect it to fail unless info comes from alternate provider and a wild guess would OMDB so I will check their api now. Showing your age. It was a film, long before it was a series.
Lessaj 467 Posted December 29, 2025 Posted December 29, 2025 I just added this as a test and this is how it was populated. There are directors/screenwriters but they're all the way at the end.
Alcyone7 6 Posted December 29, 2025 Author Posted December 29, 2025 Yup - you're getting all this extra stuff. Guess TMDB has suddenly added a load of extra roles/data to their DB. Ugh. OMDB goes the other way.

Just guessed as all I did was search the first person and select the first Spartacus that appears instead of the last. But will look at the api query now.

Alcyone7 6 Posted December 29, 2025 Author Posted December 29, 2025 With OMDB first, the results are, as expected, worse. More crew than actors.

Alcyone7 6 Posted December 29, 2025 Author Posted December 29, 2025 I noticed this on a film with a genuinely small cast. Having checked a few others (had to rescan all the movies after an upgrade snafu). And most, definitely 9/10 I have randomly checked have now all these extra roles.
Jmackay82 40 Posted December 29, 2025 Posted December 29, 2025 See how some photos are missing this happens all the time on the newest version at least once a week I need to do a meta scan and replace all images
Jmackay82 40 Posted December 29, 2025 Posted December 29, 2025 Like the attached, they were all there yesterday and for no reason suddenly gone today

Guess they've been updating their data - or the PGA/studios have pushed for the data to be more complete with the "crew". But seriously, Scenario Writer. WHY? The previous scan never had this many "crew" roles as it appears now. Weird.
