Hello

how does Emby manage multi versions of a same TV Show/VOD?

Eg:
i have a serie and 2 files: one for French langage version and another file for VOST version.
What's the best practice to scan library and identify and choose one of the 2 versions easily?

Thanks

Ensure both content folder is in the same library and have the option enabled.

But clients automatically choose a version and would require user to select version before playback.

Hello

Thanks for reply.

It’s ambiguitous, you say client auto choose a version and user must select a version. It should be one or the other ?

Emby currently has no such thing as a default version and clients will auto select the version it deems most direct playable.  But users can select versions prior to playback of their choosing per the version drop-down.  But must be done on every episode in this case.

It's honestly easier to have them separate and have one titled as French in the name by editing the metadata, and the other as normal. The person playing it back might be able to have the correct one play if they have their preferred language selected, but most people don't do that, and Emby won't differentiate. You would be better off to use mkvtoolnix to merge the French language tracks into the file and have it as a playback option,.
