nmalinoski 3 Posted December 28, 2025 Posted December 28, 2025 When I attempt to watch a video through Emby on my Roku Ultras that has a subtitle track flagged as forced, it seems that _only_ that subtitle track will be displayed, regardless of which subtitle track I select. As I understand it, a forced subtitle track should only be displayed if either it or no subtitle track is selected; however, if I select a different track altogether, such as SDH or a different language, the Roku client will continue to _only_ show the forced track. I do not see this behavior in the web client or other media players with the same files. I would expect selecting any other track would display that track.
Luke 42077 Posted December 28, 2025 Posted December 28, 2025 Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
ebr 16169 Posted December 28, 2025 Posted December 28, 2025 Hi. Yes, this is a known issue with the Roku internal player. It takes the term "forced" very literally. If you use the "Playback Correction" menu option during playback, you should be able to force transcoding which will then allow the proper subtitle to be chosen. You can also use a tool to remove that flag from the stream.
