K1ng_Lear 237 Posted December 26, 2025 Posted December 26, 2025 Recently some of my family encounter a strange behaviour. They wanted to continue a stream which on their iOS-devices and get the message that no compatible streams are available. The only way to resolve this issue was to delete and reinstall the emby app. You can imagine that the WAF is declining. I think the issue is related to shutdown of the server. I had to do maintenance on my server and so emby was shut down, too. After the launch the web app and the android one on my shield are working fine, but on two iOS devices from family members we had this issue. There is no related log from the stream, so I can only add the server log itself. embyserver.txt
Luke 42077 Posted December 26, 2025 Posted December 26, 2025 Hi did you check to see that the Emby iOS app has local network permissions?

The issue of my wife happens round about at 18:35, for my son I don't have any time index. I got only the response that there is a problem and that it's the same one we two days before. In the first I verified if the server is running fine and if I can play anything on the web, than I tried to log out my wife on her iPhone without any success. After the reinstall of the app all was fine again. I checked the server logs, too, but I couldn't see any related event to the iPhone of my wife.
K1ng_Lear 237 Posted December 27, 2025 Author Posted December 27, 2025 Issue is here again. @LukeThis time I got an activity event in the server overview at 15:24 and 15:25. The stream seems to start an will be stopped immediately. The issue appears only on the iPhone of my wife, her iPad seems not affected. Log attached. embyserver.txt
Luke 42077 Posted December 28, 2025 Posted December 28, 2025 The app is connecting using the LAN address, so it's back to my earlier question: On 12/26/2025 at 1:21 PM, Luke said: Hi did you check to see that the Emby iOS app has local network permissions? Â

Meanwhile I encountered the same issue on my Macbook, too. The same file runs on my shield without a problem and I could start other streams, too. Logs attached. Luke 42077 Posted December 30, 2025 Posted December 30, 2025 Can you try safari and see how things compare? Thanks.

Ok, meanwhile I could collect some further informations. 1. When I start the file direct from the beginning it runs without an issue. On Brave and on Safari. 2. When I jump forward or try to continue the movie I only see the circle and it stops. There were no failure message popping up this time. 3. I could observe this behaviour on Brand and Safari. embyserver-2.txt embyserver (1).txt ffmpeg-transcode-dc38e506-7dad-46ac-a068-800364569954_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-ad1f8871-5802-4ccb-8a0d-b2977d56dc22_1.txt
Luke 42077 Posted January 4 Posted January 4 As a test ,if you disable hardware transcoding in server transcoding settings, how does that compare?

This works. The streams starts almost instantly without any flaws. When I reactivate HW transcoding the issue reappears, too. Edited January 4 by K1ng_Lear additional Info 1
Solution Luke 42077 Posted January 4 Solution Posted January 4 OK. Since you have both quicksync and vaapi available, the next thing you could try is to enable it again and then disable quicksync using the advanced option. Of course these options will impact all of transcoding so you'll have to find the ones that work best for you.

I deactivated the Qsync vor H264 and will see what happens to all the other streams. By the way, it looks like that only the decoder is affected. Edited January 5 by K1ng_Lear additional info 1
