Nimasa 11 Posted December 26, 2025 Posted December 26, 2025 Hello, Emby on Android (Galaxy S24U) and Android TV (Sony Bravia 8) for some videos is seeking on video slider. Emby server v 4.9.1.90 is running on Windows 10. Emby apps on Android phone and Android TV are used. And both of these platform are having issues with some of the videos. Two sample videos and a preview of the slider is shown in the following links. Nimasa 11 Posted December 27, 2025 Author Posted December 27, 2025 Can anyone confirm this issue? Is it a transcoding issue? Btw, I have Emby Premier and HW transcoding on. Watch the Previews, the samples are for test on your side.

Nimasa 11 Posted December 27, 2025 Author Posted December 27, 2025 (edited) Thanks for your reply and test. I uploaded some images from the admin page, including library settings, in this G-Drive folder: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ictIX1U6WioTzZdakEWYywCOU7MTderH BTW, it's a laptop with the followings specifications running only Emby server (no other uses - only for Emby) and files are stored in a SSD (Samsung T7 Shield) connected to it (in case it makes any difference). CPU: Core i7-4600M @ 2.9 GHz RAM: 8 GB GPU: AMD Radeon HD8690M (2GB) & HD Graphics 4600 (113MB) The issue is also present on TV, but when the video files are opened on a PC it works fine. Please test on an Android phone, or an Android TV. Thanks Edited December 27, 2025 by Nimasa

Hi, Video slider and moving forward or backward on some video are not working, on Android phone and Android TV. In the first post, I provided previews of the issue, and two sample files to test on your side.
Luke 42077 Posted December 28, 2025 Posted December 28, 2025 What exactly happens when you try to skip forward and back?
Nimasa 11 Posted December 28, 2025 Author Posted December 28, 2025 (edited) 21 minutes ago, Luke said: What exactly happens when you try to skip forward and back? Nothing. Only Pause/Play button works. When I skip forward and back it simply ignores the operation and keeps playing the media. The same when I select a chapter of that video (I don't know why it shows chapters of a music video, but anyways when I select the chapters it doesn't work). Even if I leave (close) the media, and open again to resume, it starts from the beginning. It happens only on some of the videos. I have other videos that have no issues, and even chapter selection works on them. Do you want me to provide more info of the working ones (e.g. AV codec, resolution, etc.) and previews of them? 20 minutes ago, Luke said: And are you using a reverse proxy? No. A few days ago I installed Tailscale, but this issue was present before installing Tailscale. Could you reproduce this issue on an Android platform? Edited December 28, 2025 by Nimasa
Luke 42077 Posted December 28, 2025 Posted December 28, 2025 Hi, no, I can't reproduce, so that's why I'm asking these questions. But we'll keep trying.

I can provide you, or one of Emby dev. team members, access to my laptop running Emby, through apps such as TeamViewer to test and see in action. I have an old spare Android phone. I can also install Emby and TeamViewer on that for your tests. Edited December 28, 2025 by Nimasa
Luke 42077 Posted December 28, 2025 Posted December 28, 2025 Right I think it's more the phone than the server. We will try to chase it down. Thanks.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted December 28, 2025 Posted December 28, 2025 You do not have Preview images enabled at least on this library.

The preview images, while seeking, are not important for me, it's the functionality that is important for me. If you think enabling this option helps with the seeking functionality, I'll enable it.

Unless I am miss understanding the issue you have to enable the preview option for seek preview images. ie shown in this image seek preview Or are you saying you are unable to seek at all in the clients? If so, I can't reproduce an issue in any client.

Don't have a phone just a tablet. But I see what you are referring to now as using seek forward/back and even dragging the seek bar does nothing in app v3.5.21. And in ATV app 2.1.23g seek forward/back buttons restart content. @Luke Works fine in web client and iOS v2.2.46 Only tested with beta server 4.9.4.1. Will assume this need moved to Android client section as this is a client specific issue.

No issues on web client even on Android. The issue happens only through the app, the same on TV, works through browser, but not on the app. Edited December 28, 2025 by Nimasa
Happy2Play 9780 Posted December 28, 2025 Posted December 28, 2025 With some testing, to me this is a file issue, as I downloaded the two samples above and they failed but a simple remux (-c copy) corrected the issue and file would seek. So can only guess android client player is less tolerant than other players that it worked in. 1
Jmackay82 40 Posted December 28, 2025 Posted December 28, 2025 Maybe force transcoding in the diagnostics plugging to test Happys theory 1
