Limiting search to specific libraries

Hi, is there any work being done restricting searches to specific libraries? I find it very annoying to search while I'm browsing a library and results come back from ALL of emby. That is illogical for me.

Please add this option, either by making it global, or returning results then having the option to filter the results by library.

Go to you library settings and toggle this setting.

Thank you. I never have even noticed that setting and I have a few libraries that I want to exclude from searches but I never could figure out how.
Was this a recent add that I missed or did my old eyes just drift past it when I thought I was looking for a way to exclude them?

Problem is that when I search if I'm in the library that I exclude, no results are returned from that library. To me that option to exclude from global search makes sense if you're at the home screen searching. It's illogical that when you are IN that library and you search, there are no results.

Can someone chime in with this logic, it doesn't seem correct. The expectation is that if you're in a library, you should be able to search it, regardless if you exclude it from a "global search".

What other type of search is there beside global search?

Thanks

Are you talking about this?

So then, it's a bug? If I exclude the library from global search, I go in the library (via browser) and do a search, and get 0 results from this library.

Just trying to understand how this works, maybe I just don't get it, and also some search features are not consistent across interfaces/client apps....

Unfortunately even though this should have been addressed and fixed YEARS ago it has pretty much been ignored by the devs in lieu of features peeps really do not want. In my book each of the devs deserve a tiny lump of coal, used coal at that so they can't make use of it.image.jpeg.3f1daa8c20da972411333d6db5c5feb4.jpeg

No its not a bug.

You don't want that library searchable, no matter what, with that toggled.

Please see the post about FR.

Yea but I think when you’re in that library doing a scoped search it should be able to work.

I'm confused now. If you exclude a particular library globally, there is no way to search it, not even if you are IN that library?
