Multi-part episodes in one file - solution needed

Either I can't find it, or it simply doesn't exist.

I need there to be support for DVD episode order. Multipart episodes being combined into one file is IMPOSSIBLE to deal with. Someone please help me out here. I just wanna have accurate episodes on my server without having to go through and incorrectly label every episode number following the multiparters. It's truly bizarre that this is a problem.

Thank you

If they are a multi part episode use MKVToolNix to combine them and then label as (Example) S01E01-E02

There is support for DVD order from the show level edit metadata.

There is support for dvd order, and for multi-part as long as YOU have them named properly as per the naming scheme in the wiki. If they are being joined together, which Emby sometimes does, you can split them apart and fix their naming.

HI there, can you please provide a specific example?

How to Report a Problem

Thanks !

The Office box set on DVD. One specific Example:

Episode 4 and 5 aired as 2 separate episodes, but are combined into one for the DVD.

Naming as follows:

  • The Office S6E4E5 Niagara
  • The Office S6E6 Mafia (this is the next episode)

On emby it'll list it as :Episode 4-5 Niagara, Mafia" and "Episode 6 The Lover" is listed as the next episode. Metadata and everything seems correct, but it plays from the actual episode 6 file "Mafia." I have tried toggling the DVD vs Aired order setting to no avail. The only solution has been naming it "The Office S6E4 Niagara" and then renaming every following file with an updated (incorrect) episode number.

What's particularly strange is that a multiparter in Season 3 works perfectly fine with this exact same naming structure.

Does your file naming match tvdb aired order or dvd? That determines how you should have the option set.
