Automatic app log upload through the server similar to Jellyfin

For example, when the Jellyfin for Android TV app crashes, the app automatically sends the crash log to the developers through the server and I've seen that this method improves bug resolution faster than any other method, we don't even have to report anything to them!.

We can even see the log file saved inside the server's log folder for easy inspection.

Can Emby devs implement something similar?

Is that not a invasion of privacy 🤔

I'm not sure how far invades our privacy (if any), but I believe we can opt out by un-checking the options to gather the logs.

Jellyfin sucks

This is emby the app shouldn't crash on you.

Well, it's crashing a lot for me on the Google TV Streamer so...

"I believe" because I always use those options turned on, I will have to turn them off and see what happens someday when the app crashes...

Are you using the embyTV app? They are no longer updating that app.

Try the standard emby android app.

I stopped using the ATV app several months ago...

Well if I was an emby dev I'd like a little more context about what is causing an issue vs just getting sent a log.

I'm sure they debated within their own team to have this feature or not already.

Have you submitted a log to your issue yet?

Yes, they are still trying to figure out the issue...

I was impressed and very pleased about how they fix the issue I was having on the same device after the log was sent, they practically fixed the issue on the next version of the app without having to report anything additional.

Emby devs are legends for taking some of my feedback and making it happen.  I'm sure they will get it right without the need for "auto" logs.

I have no doubts, but something like this would help them a lot!...

If that was the case it would have been implemented 10 years ago I assure you.

And the jellyfin clients are garbage so I would stop bringing that comparison up.  Auto logs hasn't helped them at all.

The TV app used to send logs automatically but the app stores made us remove it for privacy reasons.  We had to make it opt-in and a manual process as well as provide a privacy policy link.

I imagine this is because it was sent directly from the app to you, correct?, what about the way Jellyfin does it?

Regardless if it's sent automatically to you, at least we should receive the file in our computers so we can forward it to you manually, which makes it less of a hassle.

No.  Anything off the device.  They don't understand nor care to understand that it may be going to another device owned by the same user (which, actually, isn't always the case).
