knoll126 10 Posted December 22, 2025 Posted December 22, 2025 (edited) Hi, Emby recorded a basketball game I had set to record. I can not see it in the DVR folder within Emby. Even after selecting "scan library files" the recording does not appear. I can see it when looking on my network drive though. It also shows up in Plex for example, they both share the same DVR folder. Thanks! embyserver-63901958399.txt Edited December 22, 2025 by knoll126

I don't see the log covering that Does the issue arise with some recordings only ? What media files show in the library for the NCAA Men's Basketball ? So you are using a custom path of "/media/DVR" for recordings, can you get screenshots of all the library settings for metadata. Also what you have defined in the Live TV Advanced Settings These timestamps for modified date/time look odd The log shows the thumb.png was saved at 15:00 for the recording - where did the 2:48pm timestamp come from 2025-12-21 15:00:27.726 Info LiveTV: Saving recording image to /media/DVR/NCAA Men's Basketball/NCAA Men's Basketball 2025_12_21_15_00_00 - Oregon Ducks at #7 Gonzaga Bulldogs-thumb.png Is the /media/DVR is on a seprate system? You could enable Debug logging on the emby server, (settings / server / logs / settings) and restart the server and do a scan and then see if the recording gets picked up in the library. If not attach the log = you can include that with the screenshots I mentioned
knoll126 10 Posted December 23, 2025 Author Posted December 23, 2025 (edited) Quote Does the issue arise with some recordings only ? I have only noticed this one, but only been using emby for about a month now. Quote What media files show in the library for the NCAA Men's Basketball ? I have attached those as screenshots above, unless you are asking a different question. Please clarify. Quote So you are using a custom path of "/media/DVR" for recordings, can you get screenshots of all the library settings for metadata. Also what you have defined in the Live TV Advanced Settings Is there any easy way? It is just a popup that you have to scroll, so you can't even take a full screenshot that auto scrolls in browser since it is just a pop up window. Quote The log shows the thumb.png was saved at 15:00 for the recording - where did the 2:48pm timestamp come from The game started at 3pm PST, which is the timezone I am in. I am unsure how emby works with grabbing thumbnails, but that thumbnail was grabbed from my EPG listing. Also I want to make sure you are looking at the Gonzaga vs Oregon Ducks games, that is the one that isn't available in Emby DVR folder. Quote Is the /media/DVR is on a seprate system? No, the server and DVR path is on the same unRAID server. The screenshot of the file systems is me accessing it on my laptop. As you can see in that screenshot the DVR recording is there. Quote You could enable Debug logging on the emby server, (settings / server / logs / settings) and restart the server and do a scan and then see if the recording gets picked up in the library. If not attach the log = you can include that with the screenshots I mentioned Done. I attached them all and tagging you since the quote didn't work correctly for the entire post @sa2000. embyserver.txt embyserver-63902071862.txt hardware_detection-63902071867.txt hardware_detection-63902070946.txt embyserver-63902070939.txt Edited December 23, 2025 by knoll126
sa2000 674 Posted December 29, 2025 Posted December 29, 2025 Thanks @knoll126for the recordings DVR library settings detail and the logs The rescan of the DVR recordings library did not appear to do anything relating to the recorded file /media/DVR/NCAA Men's Basketball/NCAA Men's Basketball 2025_12_21_15_00_00 - Oregon Ducks at #7 Gonzaga Bulldogs.ts When you open the DVR library and select the "NCAA Men's Basketball" series, what episodes show for Season 1 ? Is it possible that may be this recording ended up as a second version for another recording ? Suggest you leave debug logging enabled in case a similar recording issue arises and then the logs covering the time of the recording may give some clues. I would like to have a look at the library.db file to see what we have in the database for this 23rd December 15:00 recording. I am going to send you an upload link for that. Please shutdown emby server, and copy out this file /config/data/library.db and zip it and upload the zip Thanks

The Oregon Ducks match is in the database Whilst I am looking into the daatabase, could you open up the Campbell Fighting Camel episode and see if it has the oregon ducks media item as a second version in a drop-down
sa2000 674 Posted December 29, 2025 Posted December 29, 2025 (edited) I think the issue is because of the "#7" in the title which was interpreted as an episode number - when in fact these sports events are date/time based rather than have episode numbering NCAA Men's Basketball 2025_12_17_18_00_00 - Campbell Fighting Camels at #7 Gonzaga Bulldogs NCAA Men's Basketball 2025_12_21_15_00_00 - Oregon Ducks at #7 Gonzaga Bulldogs I will refer this now to the development team to see if we can handle date/time based airings / episodes differently Edited December 29, 2025 by sa2000

When Emby is recording where does it take the information from? For example if "#7" was only in the program description and not in the subtitle, would that avoid the issue?

I would like to see how easy it would be to establish if these should be treated as time/date based airings/episodes. Please send me the xmltv as it is before making any changes to it - preferably zipped Thanks And do you know which stations would in your region would have those airings - i can then check what gracenote has as metadata

I get to pick what shows up in the title/subtitle, program description. I'll export the EPG and see if any games are playing with ranked teams. I don't see any on this xmltv file personally teamarr.xml 1

I presume you are only setting the title fields right and adding a "Sports Event" category for a small subset of the entries. Also noticed some typo where a title is set to "NCAA Men's Basketball Basketball" So make sure there are no numbers in the sub-title fields that may get picked up as episode numbers. And if there was going to be a change to get round this, it would probably be based on the category being "Sports Event". Would need to see how these appear in the gracenote lineups.

I wish I could say it was me, but the Dispatcharr community created this tool. It is called Teamarr and is very useful for IPTV feeds. I will make sure to not have any numbers sub-title fields. But for each type of event you can use a template to set what the EPG is pushing out. So you are selecting Channel Name, Title and Subtitle, and Event Description. It also has filler EPG for before the game start time and after. 1
