BenHamoMS 2 Posted December 22, 2025 Posted December 22, 2025 (edited) AV1 glitches on "Emby for android" App on older player such as Xiaomi TV Box S (2nd Gen) but working fine on new player Xiaomi TV Box S (3rd Gen) but "Emby for android TV" App works 100% on both . Ill will put it all in a table to make it easier to communicate the issues Emby for android Xiaomi TV Box S (2rd Gen) glitches Transcoding on the device Trailers plays Xiaomi TV Box S (3rd Gen) Not glitches Transcoding on the device Trailers plays Emby for android TV Xiaomi TV Box S (2rd Gen) Not glitches Transcoding on the server Trailers crashes Xiaomi TV Box S (3rd Gen) Not glitches Transcoding on the device Trailers crashes So what I'm trying to say is that you know when to Transcoding on the server side but on the new app AKA "Emby for android" you decided not to do so or its a bug ?! I cant enable on Trailers because on some devices I must use the Old app "Emby for android TV" and enable the Trailers will crash the player screen and the movie will not play as well. also Emby for android TV will not even try to connect to the server on certain devices , this is very frustrating as it take trill and error to identify that this is the issue and you must use the "Emby for android" App As a result I can't even tell the users what app to install as it deferent for every case. you must fix one of the App to work correctly and remove the other as it also very confusing to have 2 Apps that the user need to know what is good for him to use Plz Plz Plz get 1 App working 100% of the time and remove the second from the store Many thanks . The mainline app is updated regularly as it doesn't need the certifications that the AndroidTV app does, as far as I understand. The apps work perfectly fine, and it all comes down usually to user error, which you've just shown, as you don't understand the difference between the 2. You've included virtually 0 useful information, so no one can help you. Server version, app versions, logs, etc. If you want help, please read the rules before posting your request so that it conforms with what is required. It also sounds like you're setting up a service that is NOT for personal use, which is 100% against the terms of use. 1

This is so a DEV answer, as a user I shouldn't need to know all this technical issues , it should be appliance you plug it in and it should work. I'm talking about the client side and not the server side, I can handle the issue but I can't go around to every user and fix it for them , I need to be able to post "Go the store install Emby put URL, PORT, User, PW and Enjoy" and it work first time every time. writing this line make think that even that is a lot. I'm sorry to bring it up with with Plex its just works and this is how it should be . I do hope that RanmaCanada post is not the official stand of Emby. I had a hard decision where to buy Emby or Plex on black Friday , I went with Emby because like the Simple UI , encoding option , VirtualTV plugin and it can run local network whiteout internet connection with no configuration (Plan B to streaming) , But there is a lot of issues that make the experience unfriendly and are documented in the community, But this make some of my family member and friends opt out so I'm running plex for them and ill probably will need to buy a license for it as well . hope that I don't need to.

Funny, I'm not a Dev, I'm a user who takes the time to learn things so I don't seem like a clueless user who doesn't understand something that is considered basic knowledge.
