Genre view shows cover art from other libraries (even libraries the user doesn't have access to)

If I go to on of my libraries, and then the Genre tab within it, the 2x2 mosaic tile for genres shows cover from items in other libraries. This seems to work regardless which library I try it in so it's not limited to particular content types. In the first image I'm viewing the Genre tab in my Movies library and the War genre shows an item from my Looney Tunes library, while the Western genre shows items from both Looney Tunes and TV Shows libraries. The user I'm logged in as doesn't have access to the Looney Tunes library so they definitely should not be shown here regardless of them being from a different library. When I click into one of the genres, the items from other libraries are not shown, as shown in the second image showing the contents of the War genre as viewed in the Movies library.

Those images are shared across all libraries/users, number of topics around, some examples:

I appreciated the quick response. I don't see any acknowledgement from developers in any of those threads that users seeing thumbnails from libraries they don't have access to is a bug that is being worked on.

I would not say it is a bug as there is only one image for Genres/Libraries/Collections and other areas so when you restrict users it does not just create a new image as the image applies to all.

The only way I can ever see this working is Emby creates images for the most restricted user.  So is spoils it for everyone, as I would not expect different images per user.

Personally I just use static images instead of server dynamic images.

I say it's a bug because some covers and titles are not age appropriate for all users.

Having the genre tile images be limited to the titles within the library would fix the issue as a user would have to have access to the library to see the genre-filtered view of it.

But Emby is not designed that way as there is only one image for all users ie a image in /metadata/genres/each genre.

So a Feature Request at best.  As I can't see it ever being a per user image system.

I understand the response that it's designed to have one image for the whole server. But Emby is also designed to have access control at the library level and that functionality is being impaired by the single image design.

Is there a way to just disable the genre filter entirely?

I will assume the Tabbed view and no there is currently no way to remove/block this view.

The only current option is one has is apply static images.

The tabs will be configurable in a future update if that’s what you’re asking.

Can anything be done with the context of Restrictions/Access and these single user images?  Maybe images limited to the most restricted user?

If you mean I can configure which tabs will be shown in a library then maybe. Will I be able to do it globally or will it be per user? If it's per user and the current behavior of showing titles from libraries the user doesn't have access to is still present, then no it doesn't meet my request.

From a user perspective my expectation is that the tabs within a library are views of that library and as such should only be including items from the same. And when I actually click on a particular genre, that expectation is met, only items from the library I'm browsing are shown. So the genre thumbnails would then generated per library, using only titles that are in that library.

Yeah I'm resolved to having to do that for now. Where you get that set in your screenshot?

HI, at some  point we will revamp these images to be user-specific, but currently they are not and so that is why this happens.
