zachi40 0 Posted December 17, 2025 Posted December 17, 2025 Hi everyone, I've discovered a bug in the Metadata Manager where the "Identify" function fails to find any results for TV series (movies work fine). After investigating, I found the root cause. The Problem: When searching for a TV series in the Identify screen, no results are returned - just an empty array. []. Root Cause: The issue is that the API request includes an ItemId field in the JSON body, which causes the search to fail. Request URL: POST http://<emby_url>/emby/Items/RemoteSearch/Series?X-Emby-Client=Emby+Web&X-Emby-Device-Name=Chrome+Windows&X-Emby-Device-Id=<UUID>&X-Emby-Client-Version=4.9.1.90&X-Emby-Token=<TOKEN>&X-Emby-Language=en-us&reqformat=json Failing JSON body (with ItemId): {"SearchInfo":{"ProviderIds":{},"Name":"Upload","Year":2022},"ItemId":"12345"} Response: [] (empty) Working JSON body (without ItemId): {"SearchInfo":{"ProviderIds":{},"Name":"Upload","Year":2022}} Response: Returns correct results from TVDB, IMDB, and other providers. Steps to Reproduce: Open Metadata Manager → Identify Search for the series Observe that no results are returned Expected Behavior: The search should return matching results from metadata providers. Actual Behavior: Empty results due to ItemId being included in the request payload. Environment: Emby version 4.9.1.90 Has anyone else encountered this issue? Hopefully, this can be fixed in an upcoming release. Thanks!

I see no issues with identifying TV series, either by name or ProviderID. Post server log so it can be visible what calls were made.

GrimReaper 4739 Posted December 17, 2025 Posted December 17, 2025 There are no calls/GET requests to the providers in your log - what meta-downloaders you have enabled in your library and in what order? Try unticking/ticking them back again and then try to Identify a TV show, post server log afterwards if it fails again.
zachi40 0 Posted December 17, 2025 Author Posted December 17, 2025 Thanks anyway! I fixed it by reinstalling the library.
