DLNA Search Inconsistent/Wrong

Emby Server for Windows 4.9.1.90

Denon AVR-X2700H Receiver

DLNA searches are inconsistent and often wrong/blank

When I ran a search for "1975", I expected to get the Artist "The 1975".  I got nothing.  I also got nothing under "Albums".  However, under "Tracks" I did get all of the tracks by "The 1975". as well as tracks from the "Eagles 1971-1975".

When I ran a search for "Styx" I got nothing in all 3 categories.  My library has 4 Styx albums.

I tried the same searches on another receiver - Onkyo TX-NR626 - and got the same results.

And honestly I wouldn't need the Search function if there was a way I could jump to artists way down in my catalog without scrolling for 5 minutes.  My catalog has about 900 artists so getting down to the "T" artists takes forever when I have to start at the top every time.  My other DLNA server - Serviio - has a 2nd level browse category in their browsing function on Artists that presents the letters of the alphabet.  So the menu is something like "Artists" --> "T" --> "Toad the Wet Sprocket", or "Artists" --> "S" --> "Spoon".  I don't have to scroll forever to get there.  Does Emby have a function over DLNA that works like this?  Or is there a feature planned for it?

Thx...Doug

Hi, no, but that sounds like a good idea to add.

That would be awesome.  A working Search function in DLNA still isn't as useful as an intermediate way to jump to the "T" or "S" artists.  Sometimes I just want to browse my music catalog without starting from the beginning.  Plus searching for something is often slower than jumping to a letter and then scrolling down a few artists.

This is already supported in the Emby app for Android -- where if I want to jump to an "S" or "T" artist, I click a letter on the right side of the screen.  I don't have to scroll down from the top.

For context, imagine not having this alphabet feature in the Emby app, but to make matters worse you have to press a down arrow on the screen to move through each artist.  Getting to the S artists would require 300 clicks.  You'd pull your hair out.  This is how moving through artists currently in DLNA feels like on my server.  It's a pretty bad experience.

Hi there, please attach the Emby server log from when the problem occurred:

Thanks!

Thanks  The server log for today is attached.  My receiver is a Denon AVR-X2700H, which I see in the logs.   I searched for "1975" and got no artists or albums, but I did get a list of tracks.

Please let me know if there is anything more I need to provide.  I

OK can you please temporarily enable debug server logging in the server logs section, then repeat the test and attach the debug log? Thanks.
