cant figure it out

no matter what movie I watch on my own server its only max is 720p to watch,  im on a 2gig fiber internet and 1gig ethernet, most all movies are 1080p or better

So your server is remote? 

What resolution are the files you put in to the server?  What bitrate and resolution settings have you set up in the server for remote connections, and also in your local client?  And is it actually your server?

i have a dedicated computer on  my network and im connecting on another computer through the network

Then your issue is most likely the quality settings in the server and client.  If you click the cog icon (bottom left) while playing and select Stats for Nerds, it will tell how the stream is being transmitted; there is similar information on the server dashboard while the client is playing.

when watching the cog is in the bottom right, it wont let me select higher than 720p -10mbts

Screenshot? The list has quite a number of items in it.

The original video is only 720p, so what do you really expect?

Hi, right, do you have any videos that are higher than 720p?  Can you try playing one of those?
