hcboc015 0 Posted December 10, 2025 Posted December 10, 2025 I have Emby on my Fire TV Sticks and was given the option to try out the Android version, and it's great!! Will there be an Android-style version update available for Roku?
pwhodges 2012 Posted December 10, 2025 Posted December 10, 2025 What in particular do you want? The Roku client is adapted to the (rather weird) Roku ecosystem, and not everything is possible. Paul
speechles 2055 Posted December 10, 2025 Posted December 10, 2025 (edited) What is an Android-style version update? There are of course updates planned and in the works and such. What exactly are you wanting from Android that isn't already available for the Roku? There are improvements coming and bug fixes, and all sorts of fun stuff and some boring stuff. If you can show screenshots or examples or something where we could understand exactly what you mean when you say "Android-style". Thanks. Edited December 10, 2025 by speechles

I am unsure if I have it set up properly, but when I forward or backward skip a video, the screen is blank until I stop the skipping. With the Fire TV Stick app versions (Original or Android-Style), the video can be seen while skipping. Does that make any sense?

Have you turned on the option in your server to create 10 second interval thumb images? That will give you an interface like this while seeking: The video is black here just because the image capture system doesn't capture the active video. I'm not sure why your video is going black during seeking.

After making the changes and some additional testing on both platforms, my issue is with the Roku TV app. When performing a single skip (forward or backwards), the video doesn't automatically start playing as with the Fire Tv Stick app. Could that be a setting within the Roku app?

You are using the left/right buttons on the D-pad of the Roku remote? We discussed that initially, should we pause or not pause when people do this? We fell on the side of pause obviously because other Roku apps at the time were also pause while using d-pad. Now it appears most are immediately playing afterwards eliminating that extra button press. We could, possibly, make it an option in the app . As changing it now would have people question then why it isn't still doing it. Where some people expect that. But people like yourself do not. An option makes that part easier to make peace with both sides without making one side feeling left out. I can add that to our issue tracker. Then it will get attention.
