Just moved over to Windows 11 & WMC is having none of it. Alternative?

Ok the title says it all really. WMC installs & scans for channels. As soon as i restart the computer I can't even access the TV guide. As such wmcserver is not working, funnily enough. I know there are multiple different options out there for tv clients. Can anyone tell me what is the easiest to configure tv client that works with emby server/theater on a W11 PC? Anyone have an idiot proof guide for configuring one of the clients? P.s. I'm ussing a Hauppauge tuner. Thanks

Hi, why not just use Emby Server and Emby Theater ? Do you really need anything else beyond that?

I'd love to Luke. Last I heard I needed wmcserver or nextpvr or one of the other tuners to get live tv working in emby server/theater. Is that not the case anymore?

In emby server in live tv section for tv source you will have your device but my suggestion is get hdhomerun that works perfectly. I know I have 2 of the dual and are close to 10 years old and i am daily user of it

I might be tempted to get TV working with NextPVR, just so you (hopefully) know it does work in Win 11.

Thanks, Denz. That is a last resort. I'm trying to avoid dropping another £200+ on equipment when I already have a perfectly serviceable Hauppauge tuner.

Thanks, arrbee99. I did try nextpvr quite a long time ago on a windows 7 machine & had no luck getting it working with Emby. Hopefully a lot has changed since W7 days. Any tips, tricks, need to knows before I start messing around with nextpvr? Is it a ball ache to set up like all the other tuners?

Cheers

Well, I'm using NextPVR for DVB-S and a pci-e TBS tuner, so not sure if I'll be able to help an awful lot, though if I can I will.

As mentioned I think its worth at least having a go. Not sure if this might help ?

I guess you've tried going to the Live TV tab in Emby server and clicking on Add TV Source and clicked on Hauppauge ?

Have you even tried? I've never had to use any external service to get live tv working. Don't get me wrongs it has its flaws but for basic live tv functionality just run it direct through Emby.

Tried with just selecting the H tuner? No. I had this set up on a Windows 10 machine using WMC & wmcserver which all worked without issue. I moved to Windows 11 & duplciated my previous settings but as mentioned this fell over with WMC no longer working cotrrectly. I did however search google. The last record I coud find n the web was that nothing had changed & that for Hauppauge tuner users needed a client like wmcserver or nextpvr etc. I was concentrating on one problem at a time. That initially being wmc, then wmcserver & then emby.

OK sorted. I've been out of the loop with emby for a bit, I removed the wmc server plug in, set the wintv & extender to auto start & emby now see's the tuner. Emby has come a long way. I appreciate the help from the emby community.
