Server 4.9.1.90

After upgrading the server to the latest version, 3 movies have now been miss identified (previous perfectly fine) to SHOWS instead.  No matter what, the server insists they're shows and even if I manually identify them using an IMDB ttxxxxxx reference, the server refuses to accept this.  When clicking on the MOVIE tab, instead of showing the movies in the library, it now insists on showing the folders.

The 3 movies in question are:

  • 300
  • 1917
  • 2012

At first it seemed to be titles with numerical only names, however the filn 65 is just fine.

I have tried removing them, updating the library, waiting a minute or two, then adding them back - but I get the same results.

Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

How are your files named and organized? What are root folders of that library? Is there particular reason it has to be Mixed content-type library instead of dedicated type one?

Organised as it was before the update.

The library is a MOVIE content type only (always has been). The folder MOVIES has a folder for each film, with name and year, with files inside using same name minus the year

MOVIES\300 (2006)\300.mp4

Never had any issue with the library until the update.

This screenshot does not show that, it is a screenshot from Mixed content type library.

You can't have "Shows" tab in Movie type library and you'd have some additional tabs if it were.

How did you update to 4.9.1.90? Did you download the binaries and do a manual install on your Synology? When I go to the Syno DSM UI it only offers me 4.8.11.0-724081100 to upgrade to.

Then this has been borked when the server was updated.  This was set up as a MOVIE only library. It has been a MOVIE only library for 3 years. How can this be fixed? If jt was changed during the update, it must be possible to change it back without having to rebuild the entire library; with all the time spent with the custom artwork. More importantly, why has the server update migrated the database and borked it?

The update was manually downloaded and installed using the binary from the emby.media site.

The most bizarre quirky way to fix the problem (this literally should be in the settings panel - rather than the "make a new library" text). Appreciate the headsup on the API (never even noticed it lurking at the bottom). Still no idea why this got borked during the server update, but at least I know now how to repair it.  Thanks for the speedy replies.

And it seems this method has reset ALL of the artwork anyway.  Well that's just great - now I have to redo all of the hours of work I spent getting this right. Unhappy.

If not using Backup & Restore plugin and not saving artwork/NFOs with media, you can somewhat future-proof your setup with MetaExtractor plugin for potential future similar occurrences (or any other issues, either caused by server update or any other db corruption) and run it on a schedule.

Hi there, how many Emby libraries have you created, and what folder paths are added to each one?

Any idea why the DSM Package Center lags release versions? Do they need to be qualified by Synology prior to being made available in Package Center?

This is common practise. Even on the MS Store, versions can be weeks or months behind the developers’ own website. Vetting processes and just slow approvals by stores like Synology’s will always mean updates are often outdated compared to the primary source.

Prior to updating, there was 1 movie library, 1 TV show library and 1 mixed library for family videos. Though all stored on the same NAS, all were from different shares. No idea why the movie library migrated incorrectly, it contains no shows or other content… and worked perfectly for years.

Movie Lib >> nas17/volume1/Video/Movies
TV Lib >> nas17/volume1/Video/TV Shows
Mixed Lib  >> nas17/volume2/Video/Family

It seems the update/migrate has also borked the TV library as this has also been changed to a mixed library.  I am loathed to follow the above steps given how it destroyed all of the artwork. I am still (10 hrs in) redoing the artwork for the Film library... and a long way to go. The TV library would be catastrophic to have to reset all of the artwork for.

The backup and restore doesn't work for me. So thinking about grabbing the DB and manually changing it... but I don't have the time to start unpick that at the moment.

That’s strange about the TV library. Please keep us posted on that. Thanks.

The update converted all of the libraries to mixed, clearly something was bugged in the upgrade. Changing the type seems to be horrendously difficult to the point of needing tools which are either DIY or very primitive to the point that they break the library anyway. Why it is not possible to simply change the type within the UI and it not break is less than ideal. .

Just to expedite the manual edit, which table is the content type registered in? And I am assuming it will be in the library.db

No need to reply - I found the DB table / fields I needed and have rectified the issue. Definitely could do with replacing the button that says "Delete the library to change the type" (seriously - why have a button for it at all?) with a simple DB update.

All libraries have been corrected now - just repairing the apparent "reset" to the movies one.
