customized 1 Posted December 7, 2025 Posted December 7, 2025 Hi there, I just hooked up a brand new Fire TV Stick 4K Select and Emby isn't listed in the app store. Is this just temporary? When I look at the app store on Amazon.com, Emby is listed, but I can't deliver it to the new device. It's listed as incompatible, it's the first device shown below. That's a copy/paste from my device list on Amazon.com. https://m.media-amazon.com/images/G/01/mas/retail/images/red-x.gif Family Room TV (4K) https://m.media-amazon.com/images/G/01/mas/retail/images/checkmark.gif 2nd FireTVStick https://m.media-amazon.com/images/G/01/mas/retail/images/checkmark.gif FireTVStick https://m.media-amazon.com/images/G/01/mas/retail/images/checkmark.gif FireTV https://m.media-amazon.com/images/G/01/mas/retail/images/red-x.gif 2nd Android Device https://m.media-amazon.com/images/G/01/mas/retail/images/red-x.gif Fire https://m.media-amazon.com/images/G/01/mas/retail/images/checkmark.gif Travel FireTV Stick I can't sideload it either, developer options are disabled. Thanks!

Hoosiers317 18 Posted December 11, 2025 Posted December 11, 2025 I am honestly shocked anyone would even buy their new device. Not only does it have Vega, but it's also inferior to their other devices. 1

jmyers 0 Posted March 22 Posted March 22 well they got me Is Emby going to be coming out with a version to install on the 4K Select?

However, I want to be clear that, at this time, these new devices are quite limited so you will likely see much more transcoding necessary.
Teredactle 44 Posted March 26 Posted March 26 I still have a Fire TV Box model 2014, the little flat one with a built in RJ45 port. Still rocking Emby on it on a non-smart TV. 1 1
GHynson 10 Posted October 5 Posted October 5 I bought 3rd Gen Fire TV Sticks for every TV in my house, 7 total back in 2020. I don't have any plans on buying anything new from Amazon going forward. If you still have any "Pre-Vega" Amazon devices, I'd suggest you turn off Auto-Updating and deny any future Updates on them. Amazon has resorted to sleezebag tactics of updating old devices with bloatware in order to slow them down and frustrate you into buying their newer devices. Don't fall for it, hold on to your older devices
Teredactle 44 Posted October 14 Posted October 14 "turn off Auto-Updating and deny any future Updates on them" How? Is there a way to block at router level or domain level, without blocking the app store?
GHynson 10 Posted October 14 Posted October 14 Not sure about doing so on your device, but these are the steps for a 3rd Gen Fire TV Stick. To turn off automatic app updates on a 3rd Gen Fire TV Stick, go to Settings > Applications > Appstore > Automatic Updates and toggle it Off. [1, 2] Note that Amazon does not provide a built-in switch to disable system (OS) software updates. [1, 2] How to Disable Automatic App Updates From the Fire TV home screen, select Settings (the gear icon). Choose Applications. Select Appstore. Find Automatic Updates and turn it Off. [1] Disabling System (OS) Updates Amazon's Fire OS forces system updates by default. Advanced users block them using ADB (Android Debug Bridge) commands or firewall settings: [1, 2, 3, 4] ADB Method (Developer Options): Go to Settings > My Fire TV > About. Highlight your device model and press the Select button 7 times to unlock Developer Options. Go back and open Developer Options, then turn on ADB Debugging. Note your Fire Stick's IP address under Settings > My Fire TV > About > Network. Using an ADB shell app or computer connected to your local network, run the command: text pm hide com.amazon.device.software.ota Use code with caution (This hides the over-the-air update service so it cannot run)
