AmericanMike 17 Posted December 6, 2025 Posted December 6, 2025 Hey folks, I started having this problem recently where my recorded video I have in my PVR fold are not getting thumbnails generated. I saw a few topics on this in this thread but unsure if they are related or what the issue is. I have tried refreshing the Metadata with new images and thumbnails but that doesn't work. I see my scheduled tasks where the Thumbnail process runs but nothing is seen after that. Thanks in advance for your help. embyserver.txt
Luke 42077 Posted December 6, 2025 Posted December 6, 2025 Hi, what image fetchers are enabled on the library?
AmericanMike 17 Posted December 7, 2025 Author Posted December 7, 2025 (edited) I'm thinking I'm overproviding here, but this is everything related to image fetchers. I wasn't aware of these options since I haven't touched this folder since the MediaBrowser days. I also tested by copying a .TS file to a .MP4 unique file name and a .BIF now has been created. Added a fresh server log as well. EDIT:: I just remembered you helped me a few months ago with a scanning problem I was having after a server update and you pointed out I had duplicate folders. I did remove one of the folders from the library and confirmed I only have one PVR Recordings folder now but maybe I screwed up the settings somehow. This was the same folder. embyserver (1).txt Edited December 7, 2025 by AmericanMike
Luke 42077 Posted December 9, 2025 Posted December 9, 2025 OK can you please show a specific example? Thanks.
AmericanMike 17 Posted December 9, 2025 Author Posted December 9, 2025 in the attached you see three .TS recording made with the Emby PVR function. They play fine and I can fast forward through them but there are no thumbnails to reference so its tough for me to skip through the commercials. I took the file containing Episode 438 and converted it to an MP4 and placed it back in this directory. Within several minutes it created a .BIF file and thumbnails were present. This used to work flawlessly but cannot pinpoint exactly when it changed.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted December 9, 2025 Posted December 9, 2025 Isn't this somewhat normal for TS files per many topics as the container timestamp is not that reliable?
AmericanMike 17 Posted December 9, 2025 Author Posted December 9, 2025 not sure what you mean. I just noticed this happening after using this feature for a long time.
Luke 42077 Posted December 12, 2025 Posted December 12, 2025 Well what he says is true. The thumbnail generation process has to skip through the whole file and this is a hard thing to do with mpegts files. It is normal that it could fail with some of these.
AmericanMike 17 Posted December 12, 2025 Author Posted December 12, 2025 okay thanks. I never did notice this before over the years. I guess it may be best that I convert these to MP4s after I record them. thanks again.
Luke 42077 Posted December 12, 2025 Posted December 12, 2025 In terms of this specific feature, that would help yes.
