Maarten 4 Posted December 6, 2025 Posted December 6, 2025 I have selected the tv mode option in Android TV app. Looks nice for couple days. But after a restart of my PC it shows errors on every page when i go back. So i start in Series tab no error, go to Films tab no errors. Go back to Series tab and see this error. Also the switch to turn off the tv mode is gone. I already removed the cache and app from Android tv, But after install it still sees my server settings i set previous, strange if i did a cache delete or not?

That one. I can set it on all devices like iPhone, windows, android tv and webbrowser. But only on android tv I cannot turn it back to vertical. Because that switch is gone. And how about that red error dialog, I haven’t seen it before. Started today on webbrowser and Android tv. On iPad it is still working without the red error. Is there a file that is saved by my emby server where it stores settings for devices per user? the only thing I notice, is that emby server is using less resources as before. But maybe I see stuff that ain’t there. The only thing I did was restarting my windows pc. I see no server update is installed and the Android tv app is also the same as before.

I see nothing in my logs when I produce those red error dialog windows. But I will post my log when I can.

When i clear cache and delete the app next, it wont restore the default presets. Should that work to go out the TV mode? If not i would realy like to know how to do it. 1 Solution is delete my whole Emby server en set it up again from scratch (i think), but that is just stupid. If there is no solution im screwed and need to say goodbye to Emby, my household dont like this crap at all and demand a fix or no more Emby for me

To bad you don’t read my post I told you that switch is gone. See screenshots! It is only gone on Android tv.
Maarten 4 Posted December 8, 2025 Author Posted December 8, 2025 Also, “create a new user” is not a solution. See my other bug report/complain. When I create a new user and I switch from 1 user to the newly created user, emby plays only sound and no video. When I restart the app it will play sound and video. (I’m not the only one with similar problem but they never got a answer or solution.). Switching from a years old user to another years old user gives zero problems. But please forget that, I already have peace with that bug and created my own solution to fix it somewhat. where are users device settings stored?! Not on the Android tv device, so I would love to know the filename on the emby server that I can edit. There can’t be another solution. Removing everything from the Android tv device ain’t fixing my problem…….

But it works Big thanks Stupid from me that i did not see the first option/row in Home Screen settings (horizontal or vertical for TV mode). i was Searching for the same switch that i used to enable the TV mode and that was on another settings page You made my wife and kids happy again Never mind about the red error screens, i wont touch the tv mode (horizontal) anymore, i have learned my lesson

There is an option to activate TV display mode. Then after that, if TV mode is enabled, there is an option to choose between vertical and horizontal home screens.
