bfogdb20825 4 Posted December 6, 2025 Posted December 6, 2025 Feature Request: Bring fnOS into the Official Emby Server Roster Dear Emby Development Team, I am writing to formally request that fnOS be added to the list of operating systems officially supported by the Emby Server. While I appreciate that a legacy server version for fnOS exists, its current state is severely outdated and no longer reflects the capabilities or stability of modern fnOS releases. This creates a significant gap for users who rely on fnOS as their primary server platform and wish to benefit from the latest Emby features, security updates, and performance enhancements. By officially supporting fnOS, Emby would be empowering a segment of dedicated users and ensuring a better, more secure media experience on their preferred platform. I look forward to seeing fnOS join the officially supported systems soon. Thank you for considering this important request! Â
Lessaj 467 Posted December 6, 2025 Posted December 6, 2025 I'd never heard of this OS before, looks like it's a closed source Chinese NAS OS based on Debian. It supports Docker, so you can just run Emby in Docker, but the DEB package may also work since it's Debian under the hood. Have you tried to installed the DEB manually or configure in Docker?
Luke 42077 Posted December 6, 2025 Posted December 6, 2025 I think I’ve heard the name from a couple users lately.

I have attempted the installation (both DEB and Docker methods) on this specific OS, but I encountered various issues, including, but not limited to, hardware transcoding failure. 1

It was developed by certain NAS enthusiasts in China based on Debian, and it is freely available for use on any x86 device. It has currently become the most popular NAS operating system in China, primarily because it is free of charge. Although its official app store does include a version of Emby officially released, the version is severely outdated. I hope to see this OS added to Emby's official list of formally supported systems.

What issue? This really is the most practical outcome.
