maehmann 1 Posted December 5, 2025 Posted December 5, 2025 Hey, I'm trying to run LiveTV on a TS-464 with 32Gb of RAM, Emby is installed on a RAID1 running on M2 SSDs. The stream comes from an M3U list played by a Fritzbox 6490 which has 4 DVD-C tuners. Playing a stream results in a lot of sound and picture issues. Loading the same M3U into VLC on the same notebook used or streaming in the browser shows perfect image quality and no issues. Therefore the issue needs to be somewhere within Emby or the QNAP hardware. Running a TVHeadend installation on the same NAS and connecting Emby to it leads to a little less distortion of the videos. But that is a qualitative analysis only. What can I optimize to get this working properly? Any help is appreciated. Thanks! Christoph
Luke 42077 Posted December 5, 2025 Posted December 5, 2025 Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
maehmann 1 Posted December 6, 2025 Author Posted December 6, 2025 Hey, Thanks for sharing the link. See attached the emby log and also FFMPEG logs from todays try to stream LiveTV. Today I didn't see any distortions / pixelation of the image but the stream froze for a second sometimes and then continued or it stopped completely. Sorry about not adding the logs directly. Thanks for your advice! ffmpeg-directstream-641048df-d90b-41e6-a0ff-f327129055d7_1.txt ffmpeg-directstream-a6bd964b-9010-46cc-8509-a43373f219af_1.txt ffmpeg-remux-83e2cd74-d0dd-437d-b23d-32314881bd90_1.txt ffmpeg-directstream-66d671b0-509c-4dcd-90f4-59bee1d4db4c_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-d9bc2b2c-ead3-4304-8880-457a8886e65f_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-df6373dc-7812-4e56-b68c-b3bb24c4a016_1.txt embyserver.txt ffmpeg-directstream-1fd90dae-bb83-4ecc-a950-36aac555aa35_1.txt
maehmann 1 Posted December 10, 2025 Author Posted December 10, 2025 (edited) Hey, I installed Emby Server as a test on my Macbook and used the same M3U to stream LiveTV through the Fritzbox playing on the same Mac as the server runs. There I do not have any issues with freezing or sound the sound having glitches. Using the Mac based server to stream to iOS worked also flawlessly both being on Wifi. So, I guess that hints to Emby Server on QNAP and eliminates the network as the bottle neck. Any hint is welcome. I would really like to get that working! Thanks! Edited December 10, 2025 by maehmann
maehmann 1 Posted December 14, 2025 Author Posted December 14, 2025 I don't know what I changed when I switched back to using TVHeadend compared to before. But now everything is playing normally. Even two streams to different devices are handled properly now. 1
