Questions about audiobooks

Hello all.

I am pretty new to emby and I really love it. I am however having some frustrations with creating an audiobook library. In audiobookshelf for example, I am able to pull lots of metadata and images for my audiobooks. The same goes for plex (via the audnexus agent). So I am surprised that emby has such a hard time pulling correct images and metadata for very popular and common books.

I am hoping that I am just missing something. Or maybe there is a 3rd party plugin or something like that. I would really love to have all my media in one app.

Thank you

HI there, can you please provide a specific example?

How to Report a Problem

Thanks !

Yes, I can. Thank you for responding. So I am going to include 3 images of the same audiobook. One being on audiobookshelf, one being on plex (metadata from audnexus) and the last one will be emby. I haven't manually changed the metadata for any of them after an initial metadata scan.

Notice that in the Emby image, chapter titles default to the file name. It also defaults the image to the one associated with the book in my filesystem rather than fetching a new one.

Lastly I am attaching an emby log. I did a library scan and full metadata refresh scan right before pulling the log so it should all be at the very end.

Thank you

HI, do you have open library enabled on the library? Was it able to find anything with that?

Yes I have every possible fetcher activated.

I specifically tried the identifier looking and applied the metadata of one of the results but it changed nothing but the description.

OK so you have a top level description now?

Yes. But still no image changes or chapter names.

For images, you would need to delete your current ones first. If you have your own images, then the server will assume you want them to be used.

@milktoastrat has this helped with images?

Thanks for following up. I love Emby but for now I’m going to stick with audiobookshelf for audiobooks. I’d love to switch back if emby’s audiobook functionalities mature a bit.
I appreciate all the help though.
