Very bad image quality with xtra large posters on Roku

My roku has extremely poor image quality when I use extra large movie posters in the grid setting.

I have a nvidia shield and I can plug it up to the same tv, with same settings on emby and the quality is great.

This is 100% a problem with Roku. I am using a new Roku ultra I bought and a new 4k television.

Can someone else use Xtra large posters on their roku app and tell me if you have same problem? I was going to buy a shield and replace it but I know my elderly parents will hit that netflix button on accident and not know how to exit it so roku is the best choice for them

Hi.  We can take a look at it.  Thanks.

@speechleswe can afford to allow larger images when the size is set to large because so few of them will be on-screen.

@ebr

This is already happening. The issue is the cache. If the user is 50% down the grid then changes size. Do we wipe the entire grid and set them at the top? Or just keep the original images at their cache size and upscale the ones already in cache then load new ones at their proper large size.

The images should show higher resolution when new ones load in, or older ones drop from the texture cache, or when the entire view is reopened and the size has already been changed. I just felt it was harsh when users changed sizes to wipe the grid.

You can see if this is what is happening by change size to extra large once scrolled into the grid. Then scroll down and newer images should be higher resolution textures. But move up and they might be the lower resolution textures from before the size was changed.

I can check and make sure if the view is freshly entered and the size is extra large already that they are indeed keeping the correct texture resolution. I believe it already is but no harm checking again.

Hello speechles. All of the images look poor regardless of where I am in the grid and does not change quality as I scroll down . I am using XL images. Thank you

@juanv44I see the issue here. There is a piece of the logic not passing along the information about the image size change from one part to another. It affects how the images are loaded. We can fix this. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
