r0bot 1 Posted December 3, 2025 Posted December 3, 2025 I am looking to run Emby on my Ugreen NAS. I have read through the information available here here https://mariushosting.com/how-to-install-emby-with-hardware-transcoding-on-your-ugreen-nas/ I am looking to do a direct Emby Server install onto the Linux OS if possible as read as supported. However I am running into the following issue. This is a DX4800 Plus running the latest Ugreen NAS OS 1.11.0.0053 After SSH connection to the box and running "cat /etc/os-release" I got the following response: PRETTY_NAME="Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm)" NAME="Debian GNU/Linux" VERSION_ID="12" VERSION="12 (bookworm)" VERSION_CODENAME=bookworm ID=debian HOME_URL="https://www.debian.org/" SUPPORT_URL="https://www.debian.org/support" BUG_REPORT_URL="https://bugs.debian.org/" OS_VERSION=1.11.0.0053 Which led me to download the latest AMD64 Emby Server release with a WGET wget https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/download/4.9.1.90/emby-server-deb_4.9.1.90_amd64.deb Then attempting to install with the command: sudo apt install ./emby-server-deb_4.9.1.90_amd64.deb I got this message: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree... Done Reading state information... Done You might want to run 'apt --fix-broken install' to correct these. The following packages have unmet dependencies: exiv2 : Depends: libexiv2-27 (= 0.27.6-1) but it is not installable libopengl0 : Depends: libglvnd0 (= 1.7.0-2101~22.04) but 1.6.0-1 is installed E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt --fix-broken install' with no packages (or specify a solution). According to ChatGPT at least this is likely because these packages are installed/managed via UGreen NAS OS for the Photo's app and its AI/Face Detection stuff I have installed. Unsure though how to proceed without breaking that and still installing Emby Server. r0bot@DXP4800PLUS-9A0:~$ apt-cache policy libglvnd0 libopengl0 exiv2 libexiv2-27 libglvnd0: Installed: 1.6.0-1 Candidate: 1.6.0-1 Version table: *** 1.6.0-1 100 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status libopengl0: Installed: 1.7.0-2101~22.04 Candidate: 1.7.0-2101~22.04 Version table: *** 1.7.0-2101~22.04 100 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status exiv2: Installed: 0.28.4-0.0.11 Candidate: 0.28.4-0.0.11 Version table: *** 0.28.4-0.0.11 100 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status libexiv2-27: Installed: (none) Candidate: (none) Version table:
Luke 42077 Posted December 4, 2025 Posted December 4, 2025 Hi, did you try using the install process used by others in that topic? This is all new territory on these devices.
r0bot 1 Posted December 4, 2025 Author Posted December 4, 2025 Luke, I have read through that thread extensively trying to see if im missing something but dont really see "instructions" posted. There was the post by TDriver on 6/7/24 which shows he just installed the DEB file without issue. Then there is Docker posts and the other instructions i linked to which are also docker but using a manager Portainer... There is also the instructions by Jägs, but those are around permissions for Emby once installed and not related to my installation issue i dont believe. There is the post by hdsuisse on 3/29/25 saying he installed the "emby-server-deb_4.9.0.42_amd64.deb" and only needed to adjust the permissions for the media folders. So i dont see anything related to this particular install issue I am having, unsure if this is due to new Emby file or newer uGreen OS or the Photo's APP AI stuff, thats the direction and help im looking for.
Luke 42077 Posted December 4, 2025 Posted December 4, 2025 Right unfortunately there aren’t instructions because this is new hardware and we are all figuring it out together. that’s why I would suggest using the same process as tdriver. we have been in contact with ugreen and for months they have been promising to release an Emby server package into their App Store. At that point things will get more user friendly I’m sure, but until then it is very much a roll up your sleeves situation.
r0bot 1 Posted December 4, 2025 Author Posted December 4, 2025 (edited) Luke, Using "sudo dpkg -i emby-server-deb_4.9.0.23.deb" instead of "sudo apt install ./emby-server-deb_4.9.1.90_amd64.deb" did allow the install to complete, just with warnings instead of a failure. Moving along now with that setup and seeing what issues I do or do not run into. r0bot@DXP4800PLUS-9A0:~$ sudo dpkg -i emby-server-deb_4.9.1.90_amd64.deb [sudo] password for r0bot: Selecting previously unselected package emby-server. dpkg: warning: files list file for package 'linux-image-6.1.0-18-amd64' missing; assuming package has no files currently installed dpkg: warning: files list file for package 'libigc1:amd64' missing; assuming pac kage has no files currently installed dpkg: warning: files list file for package 'systemd-container' missing; assuming package has no files currently installed dpkg: warning: files list file for package 'libigdfcl1:amd64' missing; assuming package has no files currently installed (Reading database ... 60079 files and directories currently installed.)
