MediaEmby1968 47 Posted December 6, 2025 Author Posted December 6, 2025 (edited) I used the CSS you helped me with, nothing else. The default theme was Dark, and I applied that modified CSS to it. That's all I did. I didn't modify the .js file because it wasn't working. I left everything else as is. In fact, it was working fine. It was when I restarted the server that something got corrupted, and now nothing shows up on the home screen no matter what changes I make. I removed all the CSS I had, and now I have nothing at all, just the default theme. Edited December 6, 2025 by MediaEmby1968
MediaEmby1968 47 Posted December 6, 2025 Author Posted December 6, 2025 What would happen if I reinstall Emby over my existing installation? Which folder should I back up? The metadata folder?

Which folder should I back up? The metadata folder? Reinstalling will not affect your configs/data as it just replaces the system folder. If a mod to a file within that folder went wrong then yes a reinstall would correct that issue. But sounds like a mod that you didn't think worked actually happened when you restarted as the browser was previously caching the files that require a full reload to load the new file/edited file.
MediaEmby1968 47 Posted December 7, 2025 Author Posted December 7, 2025 Well, in the end I found a partial solution... it had been going on for several days and I was fed up, especially my wife. And in the end, drastic problems call for drastic solutions. I reinstalled it... but oh, surprise, it didn't work... I tested it in several browsers, so I decided to uninstall it completely, deleting every folder. Now it works, the problem is that the album art from the external hard drive where I have most of the files isn't showing up... I suppose it's a permissions issue. The thing is, the home screen doesn't appear in Brave or Chromium... it does appear in Firefox. For now, I'll only use it for Emby. Thank you for your time and attention.

Did you remember to clear the cache of the browsers as well? You can do a force re-download of a page with "ctrl-shift-r"
MediaEmby1968 47 Posted December 7, 2025 Author Posted December 7, 2025 I've cleared the cache and deleted browsing data several times... in the end, it's better to uninstall and start over... the problem is that Manjaro has a lot of permissions and I haven't been able to figure it out yet. And even then, it's not working very well... for example, I can't change the main image on the Libraries home screen... it takes a long time to load the image, and then it doesn't load.

MediaEmby1968 47 Posted December 8, 2025 Author Posted December 8, 2025 Never mind, @Luke, I fixed it this afternoon, although I had to uninstall it again. Computers have their quirks that sometimes you just can't understand. I went crazy with the permissions issue, searching, reading, trying things out, and when I uninstalled it, I thought I'd try it without any permissions, and here it is working. It shows up on the Firefox and Chromium login screens. We'll see about Brave, but that's for another day. By the way, the 4.9.1.90 update just arrived a little while ago. But I'll install it tomorrow; I'm tired now. Thanks everyone.

MediaEmby1968 47 Posted December 9, 2025 Author Posted December 9, 2025 What I did was uninstall the server and reinstall it. 1
