Mendocinotim 22 Posted November 30, 2025 Posted November 30, 2025 I have noticed an issue when using the Versions drop-down to select a movie or tv show episode version. I have been using Versions in an unusual way. I say unusual, because I understand it is intended for when you might have one version that is 720 and another version that is 4k; or when you have a 3D version and a 2D version, etc. In my case however, I have an older Drobo RAID that is starting to fail, in that it is no longer alowing me to write to it, and is now read-only. Thus, I cannot delete a movie or tv episode from that RAID volume, that I had not initially watched to make sure it was okay. Only later, when I finally get around to watching it, I might then notice that it is sub-par, poorly encoded, or low (unwatchable) resolution. My (temporary) solution - until I can afford to replace the Drobo RAID with a better and more modern RAID unit - is that I set up a second 10TB drive, on which I can add and work with new content, which I told Emby to also look at for my movies and TV stuff. The versions issue.. When I add a better copy of a movie or show episode, and then use the Versions drop-down to select that better copy - which BTW: I tag all better copies by adding ".BetterCopy" to the actual file name, right before the file extension. For example: "My Movie (2015).BetterCopy.m4v". This way I can be sure to identify the better copy because it's shown in the drop down. But when I use that drop down to select a version, and it does not properly switch to the desired one, that is a problem. And I wonder if there is something you can do to fix this issue - which sometimes works, and other times does not? Thank you (in advance) for your consideration.
