Offline Downloads not synchronised

I'm desperately trying to download about 3 episodes of a series for offline usage on my iPhone.
Going to App Settings -> Downloads I can see showing Downloading ..., but then, after it finishes, it just starts again and again and no files are to be found in the Downloads section.
I run version 4.9.1.90 of the server.
If I go to Manage Downloads, all 3 episodes are listed as "Transferring".

Thoughts?

This has happened to me more times than I can count. Sometimes when downloads fail, the download manager gets in a weird state and will refuse to properly download that same file again.

The only way to fix this is to clear the app's data, which unfortunately means losing any downloaded content and local app settings.

I don’t have much to loose. Where would I go to clear the app’s data? I’m roaming around without much success 🙂

Honestly I'm not sure about iOS, you might just have to delete the app and reinstall it. Android let's you long press on apps to delete just the app data, but I don't see that on my iPad.

HI there, can you please provide a specific example?

How to Report a Problem

Thanks !

I've tried reinstalling the app, no success.

Here is the process with pictures. Not sure how better I can explain it.

I already said that.. all iOS users are having this problem. It’s an easy problem to detect. @Lukejust put anything to download on iPhone and you will see what happens. It’s very easy to see the problem.

This is exactly my issue as well. I queued up several shows last night to download, and noticed the "Downloading x of x" kept restarting, with different numbers (sometimes it would be 1..2..3...etc of 25, then it would restart and go through 1...2...3... etc of 24, and so on). I thought it was a weird way to display it, but noticed the maximum was decreasing, and thought that once the maximum hits 0, it should work. Well, it eventually disappeared, and I check my downloads area, and there are no shows. Not sure what happened.

I also deleted all of the downloads, deleted the app and reinstalled, restarted the server and my phone, to no avail.

Now, I'm running a test to see if removing admin privileges from my user profile (as suggested here as a fix https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/103327-ready-to-transfer-but-never-starts-downloading/page/4/#findComment-1418403) will fix it.

edit - also, sequence looks great, @curb_enhusiasm

Removing admin privileges from my profile did not help. Unfortunately, I have not found any fix. @Lukedo you know if a recent update caused this to become a worse issue than it already was for many users?

For me only start happening this latest update. Before was working fine. So it’s a problem with this latest update. And strange is that @Lukedont answer and don’t even say that he is aware of this problem.

Just came to see if anyone else was having this issue. Both my iPad Pro and iPad mini are doing the same but my android phone can download from the same server with no issues.

wiped app off iPad mini and reinstalled but same issue

Hmm definitely seems to be iOS devices then. My buddy who’s using my server said he hasn’t had issues on his Android.

I can confirm that on my ancient iPad 2 mini, running version 2.2.44 of the iOS app, downloading works.

The problem is on the new update. Previous version 2.2.44 works fine.

2.2.46 has been release and fixes the issue. Thank you, @Luke
