NickPl 1 Posted November 27, 2025 Posted November 27, 2025 I need some help with an annoying problem. Last night we had a power failure which normally changes my ip on emby server. It has happened a few times which is easy to fix, except on this occasion. My browser (Safari) running Ventura 13.7.8 will not connect to the emby server which is on a Nividia Shield. These are the steps I have checked so far... Updated emby server to the latest version. Restarted my Mac, Shield and server. Unchecked "warn about http protocol" in manage website data. Cleared all history & cache. Tried a different browser, tried on my phone, started my Mac in safe mode and tried again, disabled all virus and firewall, tried a incognito page in safari, and still I get a message that states the server does not respond. Everything on the shield loads and plays fine. I cannot think of anything else to try. If I could log in I can copy a long file, but I cannot do so. Any suggestions.. Thanks in advance.

There is undoubtedly a way to reserve a specific IP address for the Shield device which should make this no longer happen. As for the issue right now, are you positive you are using the correct IP address?
NickPl 1 Posted November 27, 2025 Author Posted November 27, 2025 Thanks for the reply. 100% using the correct IP and port. I looked into the router and emby is not listed, because I believe that emby that is installed on the nividia shield, its emby server that assigns the IP not the router. The IP for the nividia shield remains the same.
NickPl 1 Posted November 28, 2025 Author Posted November 28, 2025 Update.... I managed to get it to work in a strange way. Instead of using the IP address that emby server is giving me, I used the IP of the shield with emby's port and things are all ok. When I launch the emby player on the shield all is ok, however I do get a brief message that states that it cannot connect to shields server. I guess this is because I am not using emby's server IP address.. So in short I don't know why I am getting this server IP from emby server.

The IP address corresponds to what has been assigned to the server machine by your router.
Luke 42077 Posted November 28, 2025 Posted November 28, 2025 Quote guess this is because I am not using emby's server IP address.. Hi, I don't quite understand. What is the difference between the two?
NickPl 1 Posted November 28, 2025 Author Posted November 28, 2025 Neither do I, Emby server gives me a totally different IP than what my shield is on. No matter as it is all working now. Thanks for all your help. Cheers 1

Neminem 1516 Posted November 29, 2025 Posted November 29, 2025 Or is wireless and cabled network enabled at the same time. 1
