DarinM 11 Posted November 26, 2025 Posted November 26, 2025 Does the Android version have a Downmix to Stereo option like the Android TV version? I couldn't find it.. Without it some audio is very faint. Especially with AC3 audio.

No, I don't believe it has a similar setting like the AndroidTV app. If it's an unsupported audio format and you allow it to passthrough then devices like the Shield can convert the audio PCM 2.0, but if you're wanting to convert all audio to stereo then I don't believe it can. It's now the list of things for the devs to consider adding which ATV already has though. 1
DarinM 11 Posted November 26, 2025 Author Posted November 26, 2025 OK Thanks.. I used to have a Shield Pro but it got old and died. I now have the ONN 4K Pro box on that TV. The audio is on the HDMI passthrough so I'd expect it to do that properly. Most of my files have some form of AC3 or DTS audio and they're very quiet. I tried both clients and found the Stereo downmix option on the Android TV client.

Also, which version of the Universal Android app are you uising? Edited November 27, 2025 by CBers

I set it there and since then the volume has been good in both the Android and Android TV client apps. The Android app is 3.5.16 and the Android TV is 2.1.23g.. Just curious. Which is preferred between the two?

Which is preferred between the two? Until the Android TV app is no more, use the one you feel more comfortable with. The Universal Android app will get more updates though. 1
