KeithA 5 Posted November 23, 2025 Posted November 23, 2025 I have been having an ongoing problem where the current Emby windows app seems to pause by itself. I will be in the middle of watching a movie and playback suddenly stops. However when I go to the on screen controls it indicates it is not paused. Clicking on Pause or Play does nothing during this time. I have even tried to do the same from the server dashboard, doing so has no effect. If I wait it will start playing again by itself. I looked at the logs for this same time period and it shows the following when the pauses occurs. Note, I never pushed pause and the GUI does not indicate indicate it being paused either. 2025-11-22 15:23:07.692 Info SessionManager: Playback progress (Pause) reported by app Emby Windows 2.234.2.0 This happened 4-5 times during the last movie I watched. I am assuming this is an app problem because I haven't noticed this on android, etc. but perhaps I am wrong. This has happened on different video files that play without issue over the network on other players. I also checked the both the computer the Emby server is installed on and the app. During that period there was very low system resources being used on both. Thinking it could be a network issue I did throughput tests back and forth on the network and the computers were able to consistently saturate the network without any data loss. Pings are also consistently low in both directions with no dropped packets after 48 hours of continuous testing. The app has been uninstalled and reinstalled to make sure there were no issues with the original installation. I am out of ideas for things to check..... Any suggestions on what may be causing this? Thanks
Luke 42077 Posted November 23, 2025 Posted November 23, 2025 Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
KeithA 5 Posted November 27, 2025 Author Posted November 27, 2025 I found the problem. My NIC in my computer seems to have an issue where it slows to 0 for brief periods but long enough to stall a higher bit-rate video. Strange thing is that when using iperf it doesn't happen. Seems to be related to SMB. I tried another NIC and the problem seems to have gone away. Thanks 1
