katonag 3 Posted November 22, 2025 Posted November 22, 2025 I have Home Photos added to Emby and recently installed the Emby app (the standard) from amazon store. When viewing photos, it takes several seconds to display the next one (it shows black screen). However installing the Emby for FireTV version shows no such delay, displays the next photo immediately. Therefore it is not a network or server issue. What can be the problem?
Luke 42077 Posted November 24, 2025 Posted November 24, 2025 Hi there, please attach the Emby server log from when the problem occurred: How to Report a Problem Thanks!
katonag 3 Posted November 28, 2025 Author Posted November 28, 2025 Thanks, I will create the logs. However, as a first check the difference is that when using the general android app, the "Image encoding using Skia" takes around 2000ms, while when using the android TV version it is only around 400ms.
katonag 3 Posted November 28, 2025 Author Posted November 28, 2025 He is the log. You can find the standard emby app related entries around timestamp 2025-11-28 21:08:xx and the androidtv version app entries around 2025-11-28 21:16:xx The android TV app clearly produces a smooth image viewing experience while the standard app has long black screen between images. embyserver.txt
katonag 3 Posted November 29, 2025 Author Posted November 29, 2025 I have found this topic which seems to be the same problem from 4 years ago. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/100978-poor-performance-image-processor-emby-slide-show/ You have written in that topic, that By the way based on your comments I did some tests and found that for very large images, encoding to webp was generally about 4-5X slower. In the beta server I've changed the encoding to not use webp when the originals are greater than 1080p. How can I set this?
