Emby downloads posters and is not supposed to

Hi,

I prefer custom covers in my Emby libraries and invest a lot of time.

I only use PNG images, but Emby downloads JPG posters into the media folders, even though I have disabled scraping all metadata in Emby.

I use TMM for the metadata.

When I started writing the post:

I'm on latest stable Version 4.9.1.90

I've used exact same setup for years (TMM backend-Emby frontend) - though with jpg artwork (few random pngs that I have are still in place) - and Emby not once overwrote them. 

What you could try doing is enable all Emby's internal artwork fetchers and then disable them again, in case sever update caused some shenanigans. 

Else, I'd assume hardly any guess could be made without logs provided.

Tried that, didn't change behaviour. Emby scans and downloads new jpeg.

I went to bed at 3am, shortly after the 1st screenshot was taken- Folder was clean of season.jpgs and when I got up around 12pm

there are season.jpg files back in place.

Nothing except Emby was running around that time, TMM was closed and doesnt scrape w/o interaction for me.

Emby restarts daily around 5:30am, at 6am the planned job Detect Episode Intros runs.

Do you have more than one library pointing to this path?

Does it have to be an extended log ?

If though I would activate that option tonight and check the log tomorrow.

Same procedure this morning, whatever it is, it starts at 9am and ran till 9:39am.

From the PM it sounds like you may have found something else on your system that is responsible.

That's correct.

As I wasn't able to find a reason for cover downloads by Emby and Happy2Play confirmed

there's no log entry stating an unwanted cover download by Emby I had a flash of inspiration.

And guess what ...

 

The culprit wasn't Emby, it's the Aaaars.

For anyone coming over this thread, by google or for whatever reason, here's the solution:
