Tolerant 74 Posted November 20, 2025 Posted November 20, 2025 Windows 11 + MKV = NO PLAY Unless DIRECT PLAY Some other media players are not having a problem but I have to use "Video Correction" to get any MKV files to play. It seems to be related to the windows 11 updates. According to ChatGPT it's a handshaking issue with media foundation thinking I can't play the MKV but I can. Is there any ETA on this fix? GPT it says this was already mentioned since 24H2 update? I am on 25H2 now This just started for me a couple days ago so I guess I finally got around to updating and now wish I had not. Version 4.9.1.90 Windows 11 25H2 Running Emby on Sysology 7.2 NAS 910+

Not sure what fix you're referring to, but I would think that forum would be overflowing with issues reported if that were the case (Win11 breaking playback), it is more likely something specific to your particular setup. However, it is somewhat hard to understand what is actually happening reading your post, what and where are you trying to play, do provide specific example(s) and accompanying logs to potentially troubleshoot. Tolerant 74 Posted November 20, 2025 Author Posted November 20, 2025 Ok.. so it appears the AI lied to me again. I tracked it down to FireFox and MKV not wanting to work, just not sure why yet. I will have to check on this later when I have more time. Chrome plays fine. Thanks.
GrimReaper 4739 Posted November 20, 2025 Posted November 20, 2025 AFAIK FF implemented mkv support just recently in their Nightly.

Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
