Dricus 0 Posted November 16, 2025 Posted November 16, 2025 Some movies aren't playing on my Google TV streamer and I can't figure it out what is the cause. I hear the audio normal, but the image is in stop motion. I included the log with error logging on. For this test I used the test movie 'Snake Eyes G.I. Joe Origins (2021) - [Remux-2160p][DV HDR10][TrueHD Atmos 7.1][HEVC]-FraMeSToR' embyserver.txt
ebr 16309 Posted November 16, 2025 Posted November 16, 2025 Hi. Can you please show the media info from the web app for this item? I suspect it is a very high bitrate? Did you have any subtitles enabled?
Dricus 0 Posted November 16, 2025 Author Posted November 16, 2025 I have the enclosed subtitles (Dutch) and external subtitles SRT. Didn't make a difference. I have movies in higher bitrate that run fine.
ebr 16309 Posted November 16, 2025 Posted November 16, 2025 If you select the AC3 track does the stuttering stop? As a test, if you us the "Emby for Android TV" app, does the problem occur?
Dricus 0 Posted November 16, 2025 Author Posted November 16, 2025 Changing the audio track makes no difference. I am using the Emby app on my Google TV streamer not the webinterface. Trying to play this movie makes Emby crash 1 of 2 times. And when it plays it stutters. Trying to convert it to a lower bitrate makes Emby crash.
Luke 42200 Posted November 16, 2025 Posted November 16, 2025 Does the device support that particular profile of hevc?
Dricus 0 Posted November 16, 2025 Author Posted November 16, 2025 I can play this profile of HEVC without conversion on Plex. It doesn't look like Plex needs to do conversion.
Dricus 0 Posted November 16, 2025 Author Posted November 16, 2025 Searching on the internet it looks like HVEC profile 7+ on Google TV streamer are not a match in heaven.

Dricus 0 Posted November 18, 2025 Author Posted November 18, 2025 1 minute ago, Luke said: Hi, what did you find? What I found is that the app on the client needs to do a conversion from profile 7 to profile 8 or do a fallback to HDR. Emby doesn't do that unfortunately. Some advise people with this similar issue to convert profile 7 to profile 8 on their server, before playing it with Emby. Google TV streamer doesn't play profile 7 natively. Can it be done? Yes look at Plex. Plex can stream profile 7 without any issues on the Google TV streamer. Emby has allot of cool tricks up it's sleeves and is in many ways superior to Plex, but down the line it come to this: 'can it play all that I throw at it (even with conversion)'. Unfortunately no. Emby thanks for the refund BTW trying to scare potential customers with "Plex is selling your data" isn't nice. Read their privacy statement.... The data they sell is from their public free movies and series section, what I don't use anyway. Hope to switch to Emby one day
stevesarzi 1 Posted November 19, 2025 Posted November 19, 2025 I also have stuttering problems with Profile 8.1 (DV and HDR10+ compatible) that play smooth on Plex and stuttering on Emby . Google TV on Sony Bravia. No problems on both platforms with Profile 5 clips Stefano
Luke 42200 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 For video stuttering, please try Emby for Android 3.5.25 and let us know how that compares: https://emby.media/emby-for-android.html Thanks.

Hello @Luke When I watch a movie with HDR or Dolby Vision and a bitrate of 50–70 Mbps, the TV doesn’t switch to HDR or Dolby Vision (depending on the movie) when using the Emby app for Android version 3.5.28 on the Google Streamer. The movie is unwatchable; it stutters severely. Sound: DTS 5.1 and AC3 5.1 It works perfectly with the Emby app for Android TV.
