blurbery 0 Posted November 15, 2025 Posted November 15, 2025 (edited) Hello all, Im having issues updating the library category icons across the top of page. When I upload a new png file it doesnt show the change in server or library manager, yet when i go to edit the file its there in the tiny preview box & the size specifications are thst of what i uploaded. I try to do a library scan & it will change it to a few icons ago, i cant even delete the icons & get the random generated emby ones either. I will also add that images from the computer in the library section are different to my mobile in the same section & the server itself different on computer to mobile Can anybody help? visproduction 315 Posted November 16, 2025 Posted November 16, 2025 Try using .jpg image files and see if that helps. .png files are often extremely large and this can cause possibly Internet traffic and browser / TV App issues with resizing a large .png image to a screen size. Ideally images should either be exactly the size used on the screen or twice the size to offer better quality for different users. Often .png images are perhaps 10 times the size you need for the screen and the browser or TV app has to resize the image before it can be shown. If there are 40 .png poster images, all 10 times too large, you can imagine that the browser / TV app just gives up when processing times out. Stop using .png might fix your issue.

visproduction 315 Posted November 16, 2025 Posted November 16, 2025 Hope that works. Try resizing the images to exactly or no more than 2 times the image size your player uses. I use 209 x 314 for poster images. You could go twice that in case some users pick extra large poster images sizes option. Posters in browser are around setting the jpg compression to 24. That makes a 2 MB image at jpeg highest res setting of 1 down to around 100 Kb and it still looks great. .png full size might easily be 5 MB an 2000 x 3000 pixels. So these changes technically allows the post to load about 50 times faster. I think also emby might prefer to show .jpg instead of .png and that means any new image has to be converted first, as well. So maybe smaller nicely compressed jpg can open 100 times faster for each image.

tedfroop21 86 Posted November 17, 2025 Posted November 17, 2025 Wouldn't it be that the page does not refresh when you make changes because the changes you are making are not actually on the main page. Your browser does not refresh, it uses the cached copy from when you opened the page? Refreshing the page in your browser (F5 for most popular browsers) or closing and re-opening the program on your device should send your device the changes you made and update your view. I didn't figure it out right away either. Most pages in Emby refresh every time they open, the main page does not seem to do that, you have to force it to refresh.

I’ve used the Web app, Mobile web app & mobile app. Nothing updates or changes, I’ve used smaller jpeg files & tried to refresh after I’ve made the change it always resorts back tot he original image.
