IAmHugh 63 Posted November 15, 2025 Posted November 15, 2025 I'm feeling a bit of deja vu where the .ignore files are concerned. PLEX has the issue of completely disrespecting .ignore files, and now to a degree so is Emby. As you can see from my screenshots below far more than my media files are being shown in the images. I shouldn't even be seeing that there are Notes, New Folder, and Rename My TV Series folders much less a good amount of the files in those folders in Emby. I'm not sure when this behavior started, just that it's extremely new. I first noticed it maybe two weeks ago. This also carries over to the Fire TV apps as well. I honestly can live with the behavior in the server app on the PC, but not in the TV apps. I would post the logs but I honestly don't see how they would be of any help in ferreting out this problem.
Solution GrimReaper 4739 Posted November 15, 2025 Solution Posted November 15, 2025 Behavior has been changed for 4.9+ server versions. Excluding Files & Folders 2
IAmHugh 63 Posted November 15, 2025 Author Posted November 15, 2025 Wait I currently only have to right click anywhere, click create new text file, type .ignore, hit enter and it's done. This looks like extra steps like opening an actual editor. While I appreciate that it's not completely broken having to do more steps than necessary defeats ease of use. Plus .ignore should be universal no matter the program.
GrimReaper 4739 Posted November 15, 2025 Posted November 15, 2025 It is different, but considerably more flexible. 1
IAmHugh 63 Posted November 15, 2025 Author Posted November 15, 2025 OK looks like I just open Kate, create and save the file to the desktop, then copy it to the main location I want it and make copies of it for the other folders from there. All looks good after testing. Thanks, very much appreciated. 1
