issues with library, extras, movie listings

I have a movie, with 7 items that are in the extras folder. Those items still show up as main movies in the folder for this group of movies.
i've removed the whole library many times, refreshed metadata,

can't figure out how to get this to list right..
any suggestions?

i have made sure that only the main movie is named  movie (1938) or whatever.   the extras are in extra folder (lowercase) with nothing on the names that could be confused with the movie

Here is a picture of how they are listed in Emby

the arrow is above the movie, the items listed are the extras.. Notice their name....
now here is how they show up in the folder

I don't know where its picking up the extra name detail - since i've changed that several iterations ago, and have removed the whole library several times and refreshed the metadata..

and ...thanks :)

What's in the “Dr Syn - The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh (1963)” folder?

It doesn't have the same name as the folder.

I also found the movie listed in a duplicated directory...
there is always a simple explanation - just need to keep looking

Hello,
I am having this issue but only with one of my folders, I suspect there is something wrong with how I have structured the files/folder. If you could help me out, I would greatly appreciate it. If at all possible, I would really like to be able to maintain these in a single folder, but if not, I understand. I would also like to be able to maintain the numbering system to be able to identify which movie is first second and third etc from a naming perspective. It doesn't matter on the Emby interface side, but if for some reason I need to migrate or whatever and need to re-generate images and such, it will help organize things. Thanks much.
Here is my foldername:

02/09/2026  11:26 PM    <DIR>          .
01/25/2025  12:14 AM    <DIR>          ..
02/14/2026  12:04 AM    <DIR>          Zatoichi

There are 25 movies under this folder, as well as extras and trailers. so I will attach them so it doesn't make this huge.

HI, what content type did you setup the library with?

This is under the movies category, I guess that wasn't completely clear.
Thank you for responding on a weekend.

Also, if it isn't clear, only the "extras" are showing up in the main movie display, not the trailers.

OK in the options for that library, how are the automatic grouping options set?

I am assuming this is all you want to know.
Thanks again.

OK try setting the multi-version detection to be based on files only. Then run a library scan and see if that helps. Thanks.

Made the change as you can see below:

Rescanned Library files, waited 10 minutes, and checked. Didn't see a difference.
Rescanned Library files again, waited 10 minutes and checked again.

These show up in latest as I have recently tried to remove and recopy them in the last day or so, previous to contacting you.

OK the extras folder is to be used with individual movies. The Zatoichi folder is not a single movie folder because it has a lot of video files in it. So that's why extras end up showing as their own items.

OK. i know there are alternate folders that Emby recognizes for movie folders. Is there an option I can use for that? Or no? Do I need to break these out to individual folders?

BTW, thanks for your help.
