Ahole 17 Posted November 13, 2025 Posted November 13, 2025 Local Facebook seller is selling a gaming PC for $750 ( but might take less) AMD Ryzen 7 8700G w/ Radeon 780M Graphics Memory: 32768MB RAM Page file: 8217MB used, 31330MB available Direct Version: Direct 12 (16 CPUs), ~4.2GHz and a GeForce RTX 3060 I’ve been using a mini pc with Linux and docker for my Emby server Would this Windows game pc be a good option for an Emby server?
RanmaCanada 494 Posted November 13, 2025 Posted November 13, 2025 It depends what your current mini pc is. This would be "ok" as an emby server as it has an nvidia card. AMD is garbage for hardware transcoding, so the iGPU would be wasted, and the cores would be as well. Please tell us what your current setup is.
Ahole 17 Posted November 13, 2025 Author Posted November 13, 2025 Currently have a ASUS NUC 14 Pro AI Mini PC, DDR5 32GB RAM & 1TB PCIe 4 SSD, Intel Core Ultra 7-155H Processor (16C/22T/24M Cache, Up to 4.8GHz), Intel Arc GPU, Type C 3.2, 8K, BT5.3, WiFi 6E Running Ubuntu with Emby running as docker was thinking about moving over to Windows and running my file flows video processing and Emby on the same machine. I have had a couple of near disasters because of kinda poor Linux knowledge and running without a GUI to work with
Neminem 1515 Posted November 13, 2025 Posted November 13, 2025 I would keep the mini you have now, and install windows on it 1 1
RanmaCanada 494 Posted November 13, 2025 Posted November 13, 2025 Your mini computer is VASTLY superior to this gaming PC, as an Emby server. Only buy the gaming computer if you want it as a gaming computer. Keep the mini PC, install windows, and be done with it. Or use linux, and don't docker Emby. 1
