SingSong 0 Posted November 12, 2025 Posted November 12, 2025 Hi there, I have a fresh install of Emby for Windows 4.1.9.90. Some of my audio files belong to albums and have an Album tag, while others are "singles" with no Album tag. All tags are scanned correctly which I can confirm via the Web interface. When browsing the library over DLNA, those files that have no Album are not reachable via the Artist or Album Artist trees: the artists appear but their containers are empty. Under the Genre tree, they don't appear at all (only albums appear). The only way to access these "singles" is via the Folder, the Songs, or the Latest trees. I observe the same behavior with several DLNA clients: VLC, BubbleUPNP, and Hi-Fi Cast. When browsing the library via the Web interface, the singles are reachable as expected under their respective Artist or Album Artist folders, as well as the Genre tree.
Luke 42077 Posted November 12, 2025 Posted November 12, 2025 Hi, I thought we had added the folders section underneath music, no?
SingSong 0 Posted November 13, 2025 Author Posted November 13, 2025 Yes there is a Folders tree at the top of the Music library, and it allows me to browse my directory structure and see all files including the "singles". But I would like to browse to them via the Artist tree, and they're not there. Basically songs with no Album should appear in their respective Artist folders, just like they do in the Web interface, shouldn't they?
SingSong 0 Posted November 23, 2025 Author Posted November 23, 2025 So, are we saying this is the desired behavior? That you don't expose the same browsing tree via DLNA as you do via the Web interface? Or is it just not a priority to fix right now (which I can understand)?
Luke 42077 Posted November 24, 2025 Posted November 24, 2025 Hi, no it's not desired behavior. DLNA needs to get updated to provide all of the same ways to access it that you can do in the Emby web app.
