Image search not available at season level after updating to 4.9

Hi

After updating my Emby Server to version 4.9, I've noticed that the image search options (especially for primary images) are no longer available at the season level for TV series. This issue does not affect the series level or movies — image search works fine there as before.

Steps to reproduce:

• Go to a TV series.

• Select a specific season.

• Try to change the primary image — no image search options appear.

This was working correctly before the update. Let me know if you need logs or further details.

Here I’m attaching a screenshot of the Edit Images window for a season, and another one for the same tv show. As you can see, the search icon appears in the series-level view, but it's missing in the season-level view.

That would indicate no fetchers enabled - what Season Image Fetchers you have enabled in your library and in what order?

Yep, that was it

Is was disabled, I don't know how it was able to work or if is was disabled during an update.

Everything is working now. I re-enabled season metadata and season image fetchers

The metadata and image fetchers getting randomly turned off during upgrade seems to be a fairly common bug, you're not the first of that's any consolation

Revisiting this topic to share an update: have you checked whether the season-level image types are still enabled in the library settings after the 4.9 update? Some users reported that certain image categories were turned off during the upgrade. Also worth trying a metadata refresh on a single season to see if the image search button comes back. Curious if anyone still seeing this found a workaround.

Sounds like the 4.9 update changed something in how season-level metadata is handled, so you’re probably running into a missing option rather than a broken one. I’d double-check whether season images are set to inherit from the series, since that can hide the manual search button. For picking or swapping artwork outside Emby, [redacted] can be handy for grabbing cleaner images before uploading them manually.

EDIT:  I'm leaving this post here, though I now feel the fool.  Looks like this was isolated to a single library entry that, while the metadata was properly fetched (somehow), the images didn't - because there are no IDs in the MovieDB or TV DB fields.  I manually uploaded an image, regardless, but I certainly can't expect the fetchers to get something from nothing.

 

I'm experiencing the same (or at least very similar issue).  I see, actually, that this thread is related to Seasons rather than Movies, so if this is a hijack and I need a separate thread, let me know, but this thread is what popped up as most relevant (and recent) when I did some searching.  

• Multiple fetchers are enabled on the Library, e.g. "Movies"
• The search icon is visible
• After clicking the search icon, the search window itself shows no search bar, no results, just a Source picklist and All Languages toggle
