I have emby setup working really well but I was told I need a vlan setup for emby so what do I need to setup a vlan guys ?? thank you.

I doubt you "need" a VLAN and I doubt if many people that recommend one needs one either. 

Given that if you ask ten people what a VLAN is they will give ten different answers and it is more likely than not that all the answers are wrong to one degree or another.

The link you posted leads to a simple router and, if you want a router, then simply shop for any of the major brands. I am currently using an old Archer A9 and I am very happy with it as it requires no upkeep at all and just keeps working. 
Any good router will do the job of allowing multiple devices to share the same internet connection and allow devices to talk to each other.

I do use a VPN for most surfing but that is not for Emby but, rather, I sometimes visit a site that "could" be tracking me and there are many entities that want to know where I am and what I am doing although I have no idea what value they could find in my info.
