M3U Live TV - Constant Freezes or Stream stopping

Is there any update on this?

I know this is an older topic, but I'm having this issue, too.

Multiple versions of Emby, multiple Emby servers, multiple IPTV providers, multiple Android/Windows/web clients.

In all cases, the stream will play for a while, but then freeze and either stay frozen indefinitely or drop back to the guide.

Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!

Thanks, Luke.
I had an idea and I think I may have resolved the issue on my end because OF COURSE I did after asking the question here.

FWIW, it seems that Emby has a low tolerance for errors in IPTV streams.

That's not really on Emby or any of its developers, though. I think it might just be a hazard of using IPTV streams that Emby has no control over.

I seem to have mitigated the issue by passing the IPTV streams through Threadfin (using the VLC buffer), then passing that to Emby as an emulated HDHomerun.

This way, Threadfin/VLC deal with the errors in the IPTV stream and pass a "clean" stream to Emby through the emulated HDHomerun interface.

Thank you for producing and still supporting Emby.
I paid for my license back when this software was still called Media Browser, and the continued development and support of this software is a sterling example of software development/support done right.

I'm more of a networking person myself and just recently started getting into IPTV never cared to bother before I used HDhomerun with a CableCard but since now providers are getting rid of the cards I have been tinkering more. I have been testing out different IPTV servers and notice that some channels on many servers for IPTV have malware in them and in some cases it's extremely malicious malware that seeks out other connected devices on a network. Years ago I use to be a malware tech in cybersecurity including viruses, worms, bots, rootkits, spyware, ransomware, Trojan horses, and adware. When running a live channel and monitoring it what can be sent through a live stream is incredible to be quite honest. Not only can malware be forced over a network but also can do a device scan of what devices are connected to a network. I found some free github streams to test and almost all of them are in some case malicious. Not trying to scare people but learning about how to setup your own vlan is never a bad idea.
