Ankaan 0 Posted November 6, 2025 Posted November 6, 2025 Hi! When i look at 4K HDR on my android tv box (Xiaomi tv box 3rd gen) hdr looks washed and darker. If i play the same movie on emby on my Samsung KS7005 it looks better and gets brighter. Preferred dynamic range i set to match content dynamic range. Should i pick system-preferred conversion or force conversion. I tried system-preferred conversion and the colors got better, but brightness not so much. And it stays in HDR all the time. Is it a bug in the emby app for android tv or the box it self ? Because the emby app on my Samsung does look better. Running the latest emby for android tv.
GrimReaper 4739 Posted November 6, 2025 Posted November 6, 2025 Download Standard Android app from your store (search for "Emb") and see how does it compare.
Luke 42077 Posted November 6, 2025 Posted November 6, 2025 @Ankaan Hi. Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares? Thanks.
rbjtech 5284 Posted November 6, 2025 Posted November 6, 2025 If the TV is reporting it is HDR when using AndroidTV, then you are not losing HDR - thus the App used will make no difference as the AndroidTV is more than capable of displaying any form of HDR (HDR10,HDR10+,HLG or DV5-8). Make sure the SOURCE for the player (AndroidTV box) is set to use full range HDMI etc - use the settings on both the player and TV HDMI Input to confirm.
