Shift fanart down on play screen?

Could the fanart be shifted down so that it aligns with the top of the screen? It seems to be centered so it's cutting off a fair bit.

Using the Emby Windows app 2.234.2.0 in 21:9 ratio 3440x1400

Hi, can you please show a screenshot example? Thanks.

The problem is that the aspect ratio of the displayed image doesn’t match the original. There’s nothing we can do about this obviously.
So no matter how we shift it, it will always be a situation where it looks good with some but not others.

But it could just be aligned to the top, why wouldn't that work? Can I do this myself somehow and change a txt file?

No as it is closed code.

What does it look like the web client?

There’s currently no way although options are always a possibility. I can promise you though that this is something that has been looked at many times over and the alignment has been chosen based on what will look best with the largest number of images.

Well they all look off to me using this resolution. Please make an option for alignment somewhere?

I can't get the web client to load background images, even though the setting is enabled. But I don't want to use the web client anyway.

Actually, I reproduced it as the 16:9 image is scaling on the 21:9 view.

But yes adjusting it does not really work as you will end up with empty space either top to bottom or left to right.

.backdropImage {
    background-repeat: no-repeat;
    background-position: center center;
    background-size: cover;
    position: absolute;
    top: 0;
    bottom: 0;
    left: 0;
    right: 0;
    inset-inline-start: 0;
    inset-inline-end: 0;
    contain: layout style paint;
    object-fit: cover;
    object-position: center center;
    width: 100%;
    height: 100%;
    content-visibility: auto;
    background-color: #000;
}

I don't get how it can't be done. You zoom it but align to top :(

Either way you lose image left to right or top to bottom, so zooming would lose left to right in the image and bottom if you keep a minimum of just the top.

So no matter how you look at it you will not please everyone as they want then entire image and it is not possible with aspect ratio mismatching so something has to give.

So height code would have to be like 140% to get top edge losing even more bottom.  But messing up all other screen displays.

There, like that. That's how it should look. The bottom of any image is kinda lost on 16:9 also because of text and thumbnails anyway. I can't be the only person to use wider than 16:9 view and surely the top is more preferable to align with. Scaling and then centered cuts a lot of heads off. Having this simple options is a lot easier than adjusting 1000s of fanarts.

Dumb suggestion no 37...would it help to reorder the order of backdrops so that a better image is the first to be displayed ? Just thought a lot of time people don't really get past the first backdrop and you wouldn't have to adjust every movie, just maybe favourites, or as you come across the worst examples.
