iceman67 0 Posted November 3, 2025 Posted November 3, 2025 Newbie here. Earlier I installed Jellyfin on my DS224+ but did not like it. I uninstalled it. I now manually installed the newest beta of Emby Server. Launching it opens a new webpage but it says This server needs to be updated and gives me the jellyfin github page. Any suggestions on how to get it launch the Emby page?
Neminem 1518 Posted November 3, 2025 Posted November 3, 2025 Shutdown emby and change Jellyfin port to something else. Jellyfin uses the same port as Emby. Since Jellyfin is a fork of Emby years ago, but Jellyfin never bothered to change the port. 1 1

iceman67 0 Posted November 3, 2025 Author Posted November 3, 2025 I reinstalled Jellyfin and changed the ports manually. I double-checked to make sure Jellyfin was launching to the new ports and it did. The Package Center would not let me install Emby due to a conflicting port number (which I had changed), so I uninstalled Jellyfin. Then I re-installed Emby with no errors. But launching Emby again shows the Jellyfin picture below. Is there maybe a setting in Synology where I can manually manage ports or is this something I can do in my router?
Luke 42077 Posted November 3, 2025 Posted November 3, 2025 Can you try clearing browsing data and seeing if that helps?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted November 3, 2025 Posted November 3, 2025 Both servers are running on the same port as this issue has been mentioned in several topics. By default both product will use the same default ports 8096/8920 so one or the other has to be configured to different ports as mentioned above.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted November 3, 2025 Posted November 3, 2025 (edited) In Emby you have to edit the system.xml in jellyfin it is something like the network.xml. As a basic uninstall does not remove everything on Synology. So if you can get Jellyfin to launch then I would just go to dashboard-networking and change the ports there otherwise you have to edit files mentioned. But file editing in Synology is not the easiest method. Edited November 3, 2025 by Happy2Play
iceman67 0 Posted November 3, 2025 Author Posted November 3, 2025 I was able to change the Jellyfin ports under dashboard/networking. After uninstalling, I was able to access Emby Server by altering the web address in the address bar. I might change the defalt ports of Emby if it keeps giving me issues. Thank you all for your help and ideas. I wold amend the network.xml if I knew where to find it.
Luke 42077 Posted November 3, 2025 Posted November 3, 2025 Thanks for following up. At this point it sounds like you'll be fine on the default ports, right?

Shouldn't have anymore issues once they are not colliding on the same default ports as only one needs to be changed. Then of course updating any shortcut you many have with the wrong port numbers in the url. But with both running the setting are found in the same location on both servers Dashboard-Network
iceman67 0 Posted November 7, 2025 Author Posted November 7, 2025 Does it normally take more than 3 days to scan all the media?
Luke 42077 Posted November 7, 2025 Posted November 7, 2025 Hi, no. The length of time generally depends on how much you’re importing, what options you’ve enabled on each library, and what plugins you might have added.
Luke 42077 Posted November 7, 2025 Posted November 7, 2025 If you can provide an Emby server log then we can probably offer some advice on how to speed up your scans. How to Report a Problem
