dma_k 2 Posted November 3, 2025 Posted November 3, 2025 Dear all, Maybe that function is already there (probably can be tested only with premiere subscription?)... Sorry if I missed it. I would like to share the video from a library. Looking for two usecases: Share with WhatsApp / Telegram: video is downloaded locally in format supported by target application and then forwarded to that application. Optional to consider: respect video size limits of the application (2GB?). Share with other Emby users from the same server. Create Emby-specific link that another user from the same Emby server can open/play/download/share. Optional to consider: read-only or read-write link ("write" means that anyone with a link can e.g. modify video metadata) Thank you!

All you need to do is copy said video from your server and then share the file using whatever method you wish. As far as within users on the same server, no sharing is needed. Just send an email or other message recommending the video and then they can watch at their leisure. I am a firm believer in simplicity and it is not necessary to complicate sharing by what you want as it can already be accomplished with the tools already available.

What about transcoding at least supporting the right container? I haven't tried "Download" function, but does it change container from .MKV to .MP4? 8 hours ago, Gilgamesh_48 said: Just send an email or other message recommending the video and then they can watch at their leisure. Would be great if you are more verbose here. I can actually send a Telegram message, but what link to put there, provided that vide was uploaded to the server from one device (mobile) and the video link is sent to a user of another device (mobile)? Thanks!
Luke 42077 Posted November 5, 2025 Posted November 5, 2025 Hi, the closest thing to this right now is the download function in the app, and yes, it will convert the media if it's not supported by the device that you're downloading to.
